Hi Everyone!

My name is Lloyd Solares. I'm 36 yrs. old, a graphic/web designer. I accidentally bumped into this board through Google. See i was testing the searchability of my website and when i typed my name on the search bar i got the result that links here in this board. So i was curios and i clicked and found out what this is all about. I don't know so much of my ancestors but i know that my great grandfather was from mexico who migrated in the philippines. I don't even remember his name. My Grandfathers' name is Guillermo Solares. He was born in 1915. He has 4 siblings and the 3 of them are musicians. My Dad was also a musician. Me too, i use to play in a rock band but now i changed career coz' i'm not making that much out of it. I don't know if this has any connection to any these. Just in case my true name is in question, you can visit my portfolio site @ http://ms-designstudios.com.

regards,
lloyd

Ybos + Ulrich + Solares
See my family history web site at http://www.himandus.net/ofh and click on the SOLARES link to see what info i have. i'm trying to put together who married whom. records indicate Modesto Solares married Helena Ulrich 1907; son Lloyd Solares born 1908. Helena lived until 1929.

yet, in 1910 census Modesto was married to widow of Joseph Ybos ?Leonora Uhrig? and living with 1 yr old Lloyd and 4 Ybos step-children. could have been a divorce i suppose ... pretty rare in that time.

i'll appreciate any help.
(Modesto is my great uncle, brother of my paternal grandmother Marguerite Solares Hepburn 1885-1971)

Saw your message. I had a grandmother named
Antionette Ybos Davilla. She had a (I think)
step-brother by the name of Lloyd Solares.
Both are now deceased but both died in the
New Orleans area.

Hi Ed,
I was surprised to see your reply. The name spelling is different, but a mistake. Most commonly I have seen "Davilla" spelled "Deville. You don't find many "Davilla's"
spelled this way at all. Not a very common name in this area at all. If you are trying to put some further information together, I have a lot of newspaper clippings.
Antionette, my grandmother was indeed a character and very much into high society and listed in the newspaper quite often. Lloyd Solares was the only living relative of hers that I ever met. He was also a character of sorts. I told
fortunes, read tarot cards, and also did palm readings. I must say that he was very talented in this area. He lived alone in a small french quarter apartment when he died. He
had no other relatives and my father Sidney T. Davilla, Jr. took care of his final needs when he passed on in the early 80's. Antionette had only two children, Everne Davilla Gordon and Sidney T. Davilla, Jr. My father was a well known Jazz musician in the french quarter. He had a night club named the "Mardi Gras Lounge" located at 333-35 Bourbon Street in the quarter. His sister Everne was a billboard model for Palmolive and also played the grand piano and accompanied my father. She was indeed very pretty. She was married only once to my knowledge and never had any children. She passed away before my grandmother did some time in the 70's. I suppose I could go on and on and would be happy to if you are further interested. I would like to learn more about your grandfather and great grandfather. I never had the pleasure of meeting my grandfather, Sidney T. Davilla, but was told by my father that he was a wonderful guy. My contact information is listed below, if you want to speak further about it.
Elizabeth D.
Hi,
I think your Antoinette is sister of my great-grandfather Richard Ybos, Sr. There is a mention of a Mrs Sidney "Deville" in his obituary and he had a step brother LLoyd Solares. His mother remarried a Solares after his father died.
