Visit to JAGER/YAGER Sites in Germany

I visited several of the Yager/Jager sites in Germany today. The sites I visited were Winnweler, Falkenstein, and Marienthal.

Nicholas JAGER b. abt 1678 m. Anna Maria SIEBER on 11 May 1706 in Marienthal. They lived in Falkenstein and their children were christened in Winnweiler and Marienthal.

When I was at Winnweiler, I stopped by the offices for the Protestant (Evangelish) Church. The secretary was nice enough to let me borrow the keys so I could go into the church.

The current church building is the "new" church and was built in 1749. The original church that Adam JAGER would have been baptized at is in the area of the current altar.

Winnweiler is a very nice town. It has a city hall, and a nice shopping area in the town. It is by far the better of the three towns. The records from the early 1700s are not located here, but in a larger city in Germany.

I’m currently stationed in Kaiserslautern, Germany and the LDS church here has a family history center and the records are on microfilm. I'll review the records here in Kaiserslautern at the LDS Family History Center.

Falkenstein met the description that other visitors have already described. The area is very pretty. I'll probably return and go hiking in the area.

I also took a picture of the Protestant Church in Marienthal. Wasn't able to find out anything about that church. There was no apparent office in the area and no sign on the church.

Since all of these sites are within 30 miles of where I am currently living, I'll be visiting them again.

If anyone would like any pictures, I’ll be glad to e-mail them to you.

Dan
