Yes, there were two Wiley Yeargans. Here's the data I have in my tree about the Wiley you are related to.

Descendants of John Yeargan


Generation No. 1

1. JOHN2 YEARGAN (ANDREW1) was born Abt. 1757 in Fluvanna County, Virginia1, and died January 29, 1816 in Newberry County, S. Carolina1. He married ELIZABETH NAZARY January 20, 1782 in Wilkes County, North Carolina. She died December 05, 1840 in Laurens County, South Carolina.

Notes for JOHN YEARGAN:
Was a Methodist minister. Buried at Hopewell Church, Newberry, SC. Was in the Revolutionary War. Fought at the battles of Cowpens and King's Mountain.

Ref. Sarah Nash's Abstracts of Early Records of Laurens Co., SC 1785-1820 dtd 1982, 2 dec 1815, John Martin to John Yeargan of Newberry Dist., $95, 65 acres on Raiborns Cr. adj. to Isaac Plant, Mark Killingsworth, Robt. Lowry.

1800 SC census, Newberry Dist. John Yeargan 10110/12010, 0 slvs, also 1810 census. His son John Jr. also on 1810 census.

John's will was probabted on May 6, 1816 in Newberry County, SC. ( a transcript obtained from Conway Bolt, a descendent of Elizabeth Yeargan Bolt).
