MUSCATINE, Iowa - William W. (Canady) Yeater, 69, of Muscatine, died Friday, March 7, 2008, at his home.

Casket bearers will be William D. Canady, Steven Canady, Michael Flanagan, David Flanagan, Jeff Flanagan, Eric Wagner, Paul Beatty and Darrell McIntire. Honorary casket bearers will be Sean Wagner, Chris King, Michael McGill, Scott Canady and Shane Roberts.

Mr. Yeater was born on Oct. 7, 1938, in Tucson, Ariz.. On Oct. 8, 1959. He married Mona Fern Hansford in Muscatine, they later divorced. He later married Mary Jane Huro on Feb. 28, 1975, in Fort Worth, Texas.

He was a jack of all trades and master of all. He enjoyed restoring old cars, building his Harley Davidson Chopper, traveling, NASCAR, riding his motorcycle, especially with his brother-in-law, Joe Huro, having coffee with his coffee club friends at Twin Oaks, and especially spending time with his family and his dog, Rocky.

He will be dearly missed by his wife; Mary Jane of Muscatine; four children, William Dean Canady and wife, Vicki, of Muscatine, Laura Lynn Flanagan and husband, Michael of Ackley, Deann Michelle Klemp and special friend, Travis Heuer of Muscatine and Steven Wayne Canady and his fiancé, Tracy Minder of Alden; 10 grandchildren, Courtney Pickens, David, Jeff and Mikayla Flanagan, Shane Roberts, Sarah Ramer, Tarah, Timothy and Brea Canady and Luke Hodge; two great-grandchildren, Chloe Ramer and Angelina Flanagan; his mother, Geraldine Kemp McGill of Decatur, Ill.; siblings, Wilbur Canady and wife, Bernadine of Grandview, Earl McGill, Jr. and wife, Nancy of Letts, Denny McGill and wife, Laurie, of Rhinelander, Wis., Kenneth McGill and Shelby McGill King both of Decatur; nieces and nephews, Eric Wagner, Sean Wagner, Anthony Wagner, Dawn Board, Ryan Wagner, Christopher King, Michael McGill, Melissa Wessels, Jessica Mead, Angela Hinkhouse, Cindy Ayles and Scott Canady.

He was preceded in death by his father Norman Lee Yeater; step-father, Earl McGill, Sr.; and two grandsons, John Patrick Flanagan and Ryler Wayne Canady.

MOLINE, Illinois - Christopher James 'Chuck' Yeater, 18, of Stronghurst, Ill., died October 29, 2008, in Iowa City, Iowa, from injuries sustained in a vehicle accident.

Burial will be in Greenview Memorial Garden, Silvis.

Christopher was born May 14, 1990, the son of Lisa Yeater.

He was an avid sportsman who loved to read, fish and play video games. He played football and golf at West Central High School.

Survivors include his mother Lisa Yeater-Cassiday of Muscatine, Iowa; brother Michael Yeater of Stronghurst; father Walter Wilcox of Silvis; maternal grandparents James and Darlene Rice of Media, and Thomas Sr. and Bonnie Yeater of Colona; paternal grandmother Jean Wilcox; four uncles, Thomas Yeater Jr. of Tipton, Iowa, Curtis (Lorri) Yeater of Geneseo, Clifford Rice of Texas, and Clyde Terry of Silvis; three aunts, Laura and Diana Rice of Texas and Stacey Terry of Silvis; and several great-aunts and great-uncles and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his maternal and paternal great grandparents.

Hey! I know Yeaters by marriage in Marshall County. My gg grandmother was Mary Morris...husband Jack. One of their daughters is Phylis Morris who married Dale Yeater in the 1940's. Dale died in the 1980's at age 61 or so. Phyllis should be in her late 70's. Do you know anything at all about the Morris family? I'm trying to locate information regarding my gg grandparents...Mary and Jack Morris....their son Andrew Patrick Morris is my gfather (my mom's dad)..he died in his mid 60's. He is the uncle of Phylis Morris Yeater.

POW?MIA, Korean War YEATER

I am searching for the family of a soldier who was killed in the Korea War. When he entered service he gave Athens County Ohio as his home of record. His remains were never recovered.

Soldier: CORBETT N> YEATER, JR.
Born: July 7, 1926, Caucasian
Date of loss: July 31, 1926, MIA

When the Korean War ended the enemy never returned or accounted for over 8,000 of our servicemen. They died in their hands. That was over 50 years ago. Since that time DNA has been perfected and also they are recovering remains in North Korea. Our government is obligated to return those remains to the proper family. DNA samples have been obtained from most of the families of these missing soldiers. For various reasons some families have not been located. The Yeater family is one of those missing.

When the remains are recovered and identified they will be returned to the family for proper burial. I am just an old (76 years) Combat Veteran out of the Korean War and thankful that I did return. I consider this a very noble cause and I hope that you can help in some way to find this family. For more information on the project you may go to http://www.jpac.pacom.mil/. My part in the program is to match up the lost families with the proper agency.

I will be grateful for any assistance in locating this family.

Looking for the parents of Dorcas/Darcie D. SCONCE. She was born 28 Nov. 1798 in KY. She married Peter Stevens YEATER on 19 Nov. 1819. Haven't found the marriage record yet. It was probably in KY.

Peter was b. 14 Nov. 1792 in Mt. Sterling, Bourbon Co., KY so Darcus may have been born there also. They were in Warren Co., MO by 1820 and continued to live there until their deaths. 6 May 1885 for Dorcas and 12 March 1864 for Peter.

Thank you ever so much. I'm just getting started on my genealogic quest...one might say I am voyaging for reliable sources of information. Yes, I'd love more. Adda and Joseph were my great grandparents. I recently took a photograph of the Mennonite Old People's Home near Rittman, Ohio where Joseph served as superintendent and Adda served as matron. Both are buried near my grandparents in North Lawrence, Ohio.

She was raised in the home of her grandparents, a Mr. and Mrs. Robert WILLS of Belleville, Pa. She married Joseph Kurtz HOOLEY in 1884 and later moved to Ohio. She died in 1938. Bertha's obit gave the following information: Bertha Yeater Burke b. 16 Jul 1890 d. 29 May 1946 Washington, Pa. m. John Earl Burke. Surviving siblings: Margaret Way of Wash., PA, Mrs. Frank Moore of Dillionville, OH, Mrs. Nell King, Charles of Wisconsin and Arthur of Wheeling, WV. There is a sister Ada (Yader) living with Bertha and John Burke on the 1910 Wash., PA census. Any help would be appreciated.
