I accompanied Kagul when he visited Dr & Mrs Yeatts in Meadows of Dan. It was one of the most memorable and moving moments of my life. I still have the photos.
Please give my regards to Kagul Koroka. I have lost touch with him since departing PNG in 1989.
Jim Staines

Hi,

I am looking for other William Grayson Yeatts in my ancestry. I was named after my paternal grandfather who was named after his. I believe they came from the Virginia and South Carolina area. My father's name was Windle William Yeatts and his mother's name was Liza or Ethaline (spell?). My father also has a sister named Doris. Please let me know if anyone may be related to me. My father is dead and I am trying to find out more about the Yeatts side of the family.

Thank you,

William Grayson Yeatts

Thanks for the information on John's wife. I have a picture of her, but the only name on it is Sarah. Their one son's death certificate she is listed as Sarah Slaybill which thought was a probably a misspeling. I will try and follow up your leads.

I've seen a listing that your John Yeatts married Sarah Slaybaugh. Henry (Heinrich) Slaybaugh (Schlebach) came from Lehigh County, PA, to Menallen Twp, Adams County, PA, by 1790. There are numerous possibilities for Sarah's parents.

I haven't seen a record indicated the parents of your John Yeatts.
Currently, the most likely grandparents are William Yeatts b. 1753 and Maria Elizabeth b. 1755 of Menallen Twp, Adams County, PA. Their sons who might be the father of your John are:
1) Simon b. 1783 1820 census Menallen Twp 100010-21010
2) John b. 1785 1820 census Menallen Twp 100011-11010
3) William b. 1789 1820 census Huntington Twp 200010-21010

Other sons are:
4) Daniel b. 1792 1820 census Tyron Twp 000010-30100
5) Jonas b. 1793 1820 census Menallen Twp (Living with his mother and sisters) Elizabeth Yeatts 000100-01101

In case you aren't familiar with the census data, the 1st number is the number of males aged under 10, which would have been where your John was listed in 1820.

Maria Heagy wife of John b. 1785 was born and raised in Mt. Joy Twp. Since your John was living in Mt. Joy Twp during the 1850 census this may indicate a connection.

My father lived near Heidlersburg in adams County Pa. most of his life. I have no idea how he came into posession of the old trunk. Just thought you might be interested .
Lloyd

The Orner/Arner Family Association seeks descendants of:

CHARLES I. YEATTS, Anna Catharine Orner, 1862-1930, Menallen, Adams, PA.

who are descendants of Hans Ulrich Arner and Verena Eberhard, 1735 immigrants from Switzerland to Philadelphia. Join us for an August 24-25, 2002 gathering in beautiful Lehigh County, Pennsylvania (1 hour north of Philadelphia). For “reunion” information or to see where you fit into the *rner family, visit Joe Erner’s website at www.geocities.com/~erner/gen/arner or contact us through the Arner Listserv at ARNER-L@rootsweb.com. We’re planning two fun-filled days including a catered Pennsylvania Dutch luncheon and the dedication of a memorial stone in the Heidelberg Union Church cemetery to honor the immigrants. Help us widen our circle of cyber-cousins and plan to attend. We welcome you.

Try the library version of HeritageQuest and look in Revolutionary War -William's second wife Elizabeth's pension application is there - though hard to read - the whole thing is about 12 pages long and lists all his children. Good luck! I think this is a line of mine - from son Jonas, but there is an unnamed father in the next generation which creates a problem.

Hi Robert How are you
I have some more Yeatts tidbits perhaps you can help with. My Aunt Helen just married and went to visit her new husbands sisterinlaw. (He is 82 and she is 73) The sisterinlaw looked just like my grandmother and Aunt Helen found out she was a Yeatts before she was a James. Her name is Dorethy and My new Uncles name is Charley James. My Aunt suspects that Dorethy is related to Sally Yeatts and Sally is who we are looking for information for. Sally is the one who died shortly afte giveing birth to my grandmother Florence Loraine Yeatts. Obie then remarried Toy Parker. Do you have any more infor? thanks Cathe

Need Help With Yeatts

I think I may be running a fools Errand here since I don't have that much information on my father's side of the family, but I might as well give it a go.

I lost contact with my father's side of the family at a young age, and don't really know much about them. My mother remembers details from them such as they have a history dating back to at least the civil war, and have some scottish blood in them at some point.

Name and location wise, I can't go back pretty much any generations at all. I've tried looking for marriage, birth, and death certificates, but those aren't showing up for me.

My father's name is Thomas Lee Yeatts, and as far as I know he, as well as the rest of his siblings, were born in Beaufort, South Carolina.

He has an older brother named Ricard A Yeatts, and their father's name was Richard T. Yeatts.

Their mother I haven't been able to find anything on her maiden name at all, but her current name is Joyce P. Yeatts.. My mother can't remember it, but thinks it was something like Portous.

Any help with this will be most appreciated.

~ Aila
