Hi All,
I'm hoping someone has been able to get a lead on researching the German Swiss Yennys. I believe our branch came from Switzerland via France, or that's the family folklore.
My grandmother's grandparents John D. Yenney and Mary Ann (or Marion) Dean, daughter of Jonathan Dean, emigrated to Ontario, Canada from Rome and Bleeker, Fulton Co. New York in 1859.
Both John Yenney (townclerk) and Jonathan Dean were on the Bleeker council in the mid 1800s. Beyond this, I am absolutely stuck on how to trace this family's arrival in the US or other family members for John.
John D Yenney's dictionary, which my grandmother had at one time in her possession, had the name "Jaen" written inside--could this have been a spelling for "John" or a variation of "Yenney" do you think?
Any help and advice will be gratefully appreciated.
Thanks
