Yeos: NZ connection

I am researching the Yeo family for my husband and would be grateful to hear from anyone who can shed some light on his particular branch of the family. We believe his great-grandfather, John Yeo, came to New Zealand some time between 1861 and 1886. He was born about 1845 in Exeter, England according to a marriage record located in NZ. On this record his parents are named as Joseph Yeo (a tanner) and Sarah Ledercomb. From quick searches on a couple of websites it would seem that the name Ledercomb is non-existent. I have, however found a marriage record for a Joseph Yaw & a Sarah Lavercomb in Devon and am fairly sure this could be the right couple. I have also found a few census records for Joseph Yaw & Sarah (1841 & 1851)living at Cheriton, Fitzpaine, Devon; from 1861 the surname is spelt Yeo. Joseph's occupation in each of these is given as a tanner so I think this is the correct family. Children's names could include: John, George, William & Emily. Any help with this would be greatly appreciated.
