Since my original post, I've discovered that there probably is no connection between my family and Mary Yeo other than a a possibly resold burial plot. My Margaret Roach, nee Counihan, died in June 1924 and was originally buried in the plot where Mary Yeo is, but in Dec of 1924 Margaret was moved to a family plot. I do have a cousin who knows something about it but I'm having difficulty getting the information from her. Life is just too busy for some people to stop and tell the stories!

I've just found a possibly connection to this family. My greatuncle, Louis Albrecht, married Victoria Yeo abt 1912. I need to get the marriage cert to verify its the right Louis. Ferdinand is living with them 1930 census in Jersey City (Louis is incorrectly listed as "Lewie Albricht". 1920 census has father Alfred, several sibs and Victoria with husband 'Lovie Albrecht" in Jersey City.

Yeo-Fulford lineage question re: Joan Fulford & William Yeo

There's been a theory floating around about Joan Fulford that she's the daughter of John Fulford & Anna Dennis. I'm wondering if this theory has been disproven? There's a book by Charles Worthy that states John de Fulford had several children with Anna Dennis. However, several genealogy websites I've visited claim that a Joan did marry William Yeo, but her last name wasn't Fulford. If anyone has info, I'd appreciate it.

Thanks for that. Yes, I contacted Sheila at the weekend & she was more help than I could have imagined. With the same names that I posted earlier, she was able to put me on to the right family line, so years of head scratching & wondering have been resolved in a weekend. At this point we've made it back to William Yaw & Betty Galsworthy who lived in Cheriton Fitzpaine. Sheila says she can give me more information later. It's been an exciting & very satisfying result. Thanks for taking the time to answer my query.

Have you looked at the Yeo Society website? I am descended from The Yeo's of Devon, specifically William Yeo, b. 1440 and his wife Elen Grenville, b. abt 1441. Their descendant, Mary Yeo married John Avery of Stratton Glewer from whence came their great grandson, Yeo Avery of Stratton, the immigrant to America before 1710 when he married Elizabeth Harbin in Richmond County, Virginia. Sheila Yeo, the owner of the website, will be happy to answer any questions. Please peruse the site and look at the family trees. Here is the link: http://www.yeosociety.com/
Yeos: NZ connection

I am researching the Yeo family for my husband and would be grateful to hear from anyone who can shed some light on his particular branch of the family. We believe his great-grandfather, John Yeo, came to New Zealand some time between 1861 and 1886. He was born about 1845 in Exeter, England according to a marriage record located in NZ. On this record his parents are named as Joseph Yeo (a tanner) and Sarah Ledercomb. From quick searches on a couple of websites it would seem that the name Ledercomb is non-existent. I have, however found a marriage record for a Joseph Yaw & a Sarah Lavercomb in Devon and am fairly sure this could be the right couple. I have also found a few census records for Joseph Yaw & Sarah (1841 & 1851)living at Cheriton, Fitzpaine, Devon; from 1861 the surname is spelt Yeo. Joseph's occupation in each of these is given as a tanner so I think this is the correct family. Children's names could include: John, George, William & Emily. Any help with this would be greatly appreciated.

Then pull down the menu "Family Pages" and click on researchers. As you scroll down this page, you will find several researchers who are doing work in Australia. Good hunting. Bob Yeo

Well, I just recently discovered that I am probably descended form Mary Triplett who married Peter Jett, an uimmigrant to Virginia. Mary's parents are Joan Yeo and John Triplett, according to other researchers. Joan would be my 10g-grandmother! I would love info on her line and where she was form in England.
Dear Bill,
I've just stumbled across your message while researching my Great Uncle William Allin Yeo who died during the First World War. It seems too much of a coincidence that his middle name was Allin and that his/my family come from Great Torrington, not far from West Putford and Newton St Petrock. His father was called Thomas Yeo and probably would have been born in the later part of the 1800s.If you're still interested then get in touch. I've a little bit of information.

Hi Bill,
You've probably tried this already but there's a great website at www.yeosociety.com who list Thomas Yeo and Jane Allin as descendants of Nicholas Yeo of Stratton and Bradworthy back in 1520. There's a whole family tree there plus lots of information on the Yeo family. My family are linked to Philip Yeo on what appears to be a different group than yours. Hope you have some success with this.
Peter.
