Dear Yglesias,
I see your posts are from years ago, therefore don't know if you are still currently undergoing research, but really hope that you are, and that we can get in touch.

My name is Maria Jose Yglesias, I am Costa Rican, amd currently 26 yrs old. My family, the Yglesias with Y of this country, have all been very interested in history and genealogy always. My great grandfather, Ruben Yglesias Hogan, held a seat at the National Genealogy Academy, and the National History Academy. Today, my grand father and father continue with his studies, and currently I am also doing so, by using all his and his ancestors' archives and studies.
It might be of your interest, since you have posted several queries about these subjects, that the first Yglesias I have knowledge of who came to Central America, was Ignacio de Yglesias y Sotomayor, son of the Spanish Captain Ignacio de Yglesias, there are records of him being in Costa Rica in the first half of the 1700's. Although he married in 1749 (with Agueda Garcia), he had an illegitimate daughter in 1748 allegedly with Juana Nicolasa de Vida y Martel. This daugther was called Juana de Yglesias. I have no record that he had children from his marriage with Agueda Garcia

Juana herself had an ilegitimate son, allegedly with Italian doctor and famous character of the time, Dr. Esteban Corti. This son is Joaquin de Yglesias, one of the Fathers of our nation, author of our first Constitution, and most relevant historical character, and who is said to have looked very much alike Corti, proof of his parenthood. In 1819 Joaquin married Petronila Llorente y La Fuente, sister of Costa Rica's first Bishop, Anselmo Llorente y La Fuente.
From their marriage, I believe there were several children, I do not recall the number at this moment, but of interest, their sons Francisco and Demetrio. Demetrio was the father of President Rafael Yglesias Castro, president of CR from 1894 to 1902 (Demetrio himself was designated as provisionary President twice during his son's presidency). Francisco on the other hand (Joaquin's other son), was father of Gerardo, who was father of my above mentioned great grand father Ruben Yglesias Hogan, who was father of my grandfather, Rodolfo Yglesias, currently living.
With this, 3 of your "posts" are referred to: Yglesias in America, Esteban Corti, and President Rafael Yglesias Castro. As you see, all of us Yglesias descendants, are allegedly also descendents of Esteban Corti.
I have a lot of very interesting documentation of all of these names and families, so please feel free to contact me for further info exchange, you can write to my e-mail myglesiasr@legalyglesias.com. Also I would appreciate if you have any information that can be of interest for me. I am also trying to complete and research my family's history, that is actually how I came to this site and your posts.
Best regards,
Maria Yglesias
