hi! no, unfortunately probably not. My Yoselevizs were from an earlier generation. Nachum was born in Ukraine, about 1888, and arrived in US with Mom and older sisters about 1892, (Dad was aready in US) 2 sisters died, and 3 younger brothers were born. Nathan later married, changed his last name to Nathans, (Nathan Nathans) and had 3 kids, in Philly/NY.

New details!
Benjamin was really Ben Zion, which was written Benzie or Benjie. He was from Nezhin in (now)Ukraine. He married Bessie who was really Rifka-Pesya, sometimes mispelt as Rieve or Riwe or Pessy.

Ben emigrated August 1890 Nezhin to Hamburg, then Hamburg to Hull, then Liverpool to NY.

Bessie and the kids emigrated Jen/Feb 1892 from Rotterdam to New York, via the SS Werkendam. With her she has children called Leie(bc 1874), Sara (bc 1883), Daszhe (bc 1885, who is later called Dora, and dies 1902 in Philly), and son Israel (bc 1887, full name Israel Nachum, later known as Nathan Nathans, and marries Kate.)

Once in the country, they went almost straight to Philadelphia. There more children were born , Moishe/Morris in 1892, Frank in 1895, and Isell/Isidore/Irving in 1899.

Dora died of Tuberculosis in 1902.

Census for 1900 and 1910 and 1920 mentions that Bessie had altogther 9 children. So if in 1900 6 are alive, and 7 have names, then either Leie or Sara would probably have died sometime between 1892 and 1900. The other one would have probably married. Then room for 2 more to have died in Ukraine.

Stymied by mispellings and transcription errors for the last name.
1900 census has family listed as Ashlow. A closer look reveals it is spelt Ishlov. (So the writer wrote what sounded to them for Yoselov, then the transcriber didnt understand the handwriting.)
Emigration and Immigration records write Joselowvitz and Sossilovicz, etc

Back again...
it appears all the other Yoselevitz's are not connected withn the original query.
My Nathan Yoselevitz did marry a Kate, and changed his last name to Nathans.
There was a Dora who died young, (1902 in Philly), but although the copy of the death certificate says Yeslevitz, it was transcribed as Feslevitz.

Still seeking anyone who would know about Frank Yoselevitz/Yeslevitz's first wife, whose name was probably Sadie, and their daughter Dorothy, who was born about 1921?
I just came across your name of Malovany. I had a great great great grandmother who name was Katherine Malovany married to Wasyl Kordonowy, they had lived in the the village of Boryshkivtsi, Borshchiv Raion, Ternopil Oblast Ukraine 1820-1900. I can only wonder if Katherine was from a Jewish family. The records for their village only go back to 1876 which are Greek Catholic records.

John

I am researching my husband’s YOSELEVITZ ancestry .

My husband's grandfather was Nathan YOSELEVITZ (aka Nochim JOSELEWICZ). Nathan was born in Zenciel, Novogrudok, Poland. He was the son of Gersson(?) JOSELEWICZ.

In 1928, Nathan left Poland for the U.S. and settled in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

Nathan YOSELEVITZ had several brothers. One of his brothers went by the surname JOSSELL and settled in New York. Another brother settled in Argentina; another brother in Brazil.

Any connection?

Yoslevich

Spellings of the family name so far have been Esilevich (the very Russin version), Joselevitz (the way Germans spelt it as the were emigrating), Yoselevich (the most popular way ised thru 1910), Yoselevitz, and Yeslevitz, the version on my mother's birth certificate and my grandfather's tombstone.
Benzie and Bessie Yoselevitz's four sons were Nathan, Morris, Frank, and Irving. I hear Nathan and Irvinf were Very nice, while my grandfather was not talked about much. There might have been sisters, but I think they all died and/or married young, and left the family.-Diane

My great-grandfather's name was Nathan Yoselevitz and he had a brother named Irving and other siblings. However, I believe his wife's name was Jennie. In any case, Yoselevitz is a very tough name to find information on. There is a possiblity this Yoselevitz is related to your family. Feel free to email me or reply with your thoughts.=)

(all of this is likely, but not 100%)
Fishell Yoselewitz, had many children, and
they lived near Borzna and Nezhin, Ukraine.
He had Benjamin Yoselevitz who married Bessie
Chalezky, and they had Nathan. They emigrated
to America about 1890. They moved to Philly
and also had Morris(Shea), Frank, and Irving.
All the sons married, but I think only Nathan'and Frank had
children. There might also have been a daughter
Dora who died young. Benjamin was gone by 1910.
Nathan changed his name to Nathan Nathans,
and soon everyone else was too. Nathan married Kate and had
Bernard, David, and Ruth Roseman.
Frank married first Sadie and had a daughter
Dorothy, and a son, whose name I don't know yet.
Sadie died at a young age and was sent to
live with Sadie's parents in New York City.
Frank later married Agnes and had Constance.
e-mail to Diane at pilz.dove@juno.com
