A bit of trivia, that might be helpful to someone: I grew up in Western NY and remember listening to a Bob Yox on radio station WXRA, I think. It was somewhere around 1966 - 1968. That Bob Yox was then married & maybe late '20s.
I fell into this site, wondering if this above-mentioned "Bob Yox" was a real person or just a stage name someone pulled out of thin air.
John Stortz [Also of German descent]
The Jox family of Cass County Indiana in the late 1800's is also related to the Jox family of Erie County NY. The Johannes Jox married in Rothges, Hessen and the family ended up in Indiana where son Johann Heinrich was a pastor there. Johannes was born in Oberbessingen along with the many other Jox.

Yox in Erie County New York

The Yox family in Erie County New York seems to be all related. The immigrants who came in the early 1850's to East Hamburg, were 3 brothers, David Jox, Johann Heinrich, and Georg Andreas, and their sister Anna Maria and her husband Heinrich Haas. David and his wife Catharina came with 3 children, and had 4 more in Erie County. Johann Jox was the youngest of the brothers and came with his wife later, in the late 1860's, and settled in East Aurora. The surname was Jox and the family appears in the records of Oberbessingen, Hesse back to Johannes Jox who married in Oberbessingen in 1667. The many Yox in Erie County appear to be from this Jox line.

Thanks for replying so quickly, Bryan. Let's try to keep in touch. I'm sitting here with my mom and she agrees with you about the Yox trait of not talking about other family members.
That is correct Clarence jr is the father of my brother Mike and I. There is cousin ayme in Ohio who has done quite a bit of research. I was amazed someone had so much as it seems to be a Yox family trait to not know who any other family members are. Clarence died July 8th 2006. I'm currently inundated with more work etc but i will see how quickly I might be able to get it to you...I haven't contributed any items as yet but I have service records and photos including the medals my dad was awarded as a member of the 2nd ranger batallion (Saving Private Ryan). Other than that we're a sad bunch. My email is bryan@peoadvantage.com.

Hi Bryan,
I think we might be related. My grandmother on my dad's side was Minnie C. Yox from the Buffalo/E. Aurora area of NY state. She had a brother named Clarence. Your dad may be her brother's son. If so perhaps we can help each other out. My mother and I are researching the family history and my dad's not much help, because he doesn't see the value in it.

Looking forward to hearing from you.

Bryan

Hi,I am searching for any and all info pertaining to the Yox family.Specifically the death date for John Yox born 1827 in Hesse-Darmstadt,Germany and immigrated to East Aurora,New York in 1867 with his wife Anna Elizabeth(Port) and 2 small children Elizabeth and Heinrich. After arriving in New York they had 5 more children,Louis Henry(myGGgrandfather),Adam,Otto,Louisa and Wilhelmina.I am interested in getting in contact with anyone from this family or anyone who knew this family all the way to present day.My grandfather was Arthur Leslie(Skip)Yox born 11-6-1924 he was at one time married to a woman name unknown to us and had atleast 3 children Donald,Connie, and Carolyn all born between about 1946-1959.My father was born to a different women in Virgina in 1960.We are very interested in coming into contact with them. Also Skip's brother Robert Lowell Yox Jr's widow and children, Betty(waterman)Yox and daughters Nancy,Debra and Becky all born between 1947 and 1951.I have located a ?High school? photo of Nancy.Sorry for all the rambling I just know that even the smallest of detail can make all the difference in genealogy research.Remember I would love to hear any and all info about this family even if its something that I already had.I would also love to hear any stories that anyone has about any member of my family even if you just remember the name from going to the same school with them.I grew up only knowing 7 members of my Yox family and am so excited to finally find my heritage.Thank you in advance for your time and interest.

Ayme Yox Martin
