Surnames: Friend, Sells, Bish, Powell, Bartoon
My husband's great great grandmother was Betsy A. Friend Sells. She left behind a portrait of eight ladies all in black. Their names were on the back of the picture, but it was their married names. The Ladies in Black, was a family mystery until this week. After months of researching each one of them, they finally fell into place.
They are, Mrs. Emily Isenburg, Mrs. Mary J. Davis, Mrs. Caroline Zachariah, Mrs.Margaret Thompson, Mrs. Betsy A. Sells, Mrs. Nancy Sells, Mrs. Catherine Thompson, and Mrs. Hannah Bacon. They are sisters, and the daughters of John and Mary Polly Friend.
It would be wonderful to share this picture with their descendants.
I can e-mail a copy to anyone who is interested.
