Would be happy to share information. I was really glad to get a copy of death certificate for Sarah Zachariah I did not have it. I have found two areas of the certificate that I question her birthplace shown as Kefferville does not seem to exist, however there is a Kiefferville in Putnam County could it be mispelled? Also her death information in MIdland said she was born on 12 Mar 1854 instead of 21 Mar 1854 have you been able to verify either date? Contact me at decker2speak@yahoo.com so I can send you some additional information and we can share notes.

My husband's great great grandmother was Betsy A. Friend Sells. She left behind a portrait of eight ladies all in black. Their names were on the back of the picture, but it was their married names. The Ladies in Black, was a family mystery until this week. After months of researching each one of them, they finally fell into place.
They are, Mrs. Emily Isenburg, Mrs. Mary J. Davis, Mrs. Caroline Zachariah, Mrs.Margaret Thompson, Mrs. Betsy A. Sells, Mrs. Nancy Sells, Mrs. Catherine Thompson, and Mrs. Hannah Bacon. They are sisters, and the daughters of John and Mary Polly Friend.
It would be wonderful to share this picture with their descendants.
I can e-mail a copy to anyone who is interested.

Searching for George Zachariah

Hi I am researching my ggg-grandfather, who is supposedly from Greece. I find him in Lauderdale Co. marrying Olivia Franklin in 1823. I find him in the 1820 census in Ala. and again in the 1830 census in Ala. Then he turns up in the 1850 census in Shelby Co. TN. He had two daughters and a son that I know of , Helene (Ellen) Zachariah who married a Humphreys and Margret Ann Zachariah who married John L. Karr and Henry M. Zachariah who was supposed to have married Rosina Walsh who was from Italy.

I know he died in March 2, 1860 of yellow fever and is buried along with his son-in-law John L. Karr, his 16 yr. grand-daughter West Luella Karr, his son Henry M. Zachariah and his daughter Ellen in the Elmwood Cemetary in Memhis, TN.

I want to start with George Zachariah and work back to Greece, but I don't have any info to go on. If anyone is also researching the same names and has any info please let me know.
Thanx
Zacahrius/Zachariah/George

I am looking for a nettle in a haystack. My 4th back grandfather was born in 1790. His name was Lewis and I am not sure of his surname. It could have been either Zachariah/Zacharius or George. He married Mary, not sure of last name but could have been George, around 1830. They moved to Jefferson Co area in AL about 1833? He had a land grant from service in the war of 1812. When they moved to AL, his last name was George. But there is a family story that one of our male ancestors was born with the last name Zachariah. He changed it to George at the request of his father in law when they married because there were no male heirs. The story about how Lewis and Mary came to AL is the same as the family story, so I am almost sure it was Lewis who was born a Zachariah.

I can not find a Lewis Zachariah or Lewis George in Laurens SC. So I am looking for someone who may have the same story and can fill in the blanks.

Thank You

I appreciate any help you can offer.

Susan Tomasz

Surnames - Harkness,Lemmond,George,Nichols/Nicholas/Nickless

Sub-Surnames - Abernathy, Brashear, Kimbrell, Carroll, Fendley, Green, Howard, Kelley, Loveless, Moore, McBride, Oglesberry/Oglesby, Russell, Smith, Thompson, Walling, Ward, Weed, Zachariah
