Zapata family info

Hello everyone, my stepdad is a Zapata and I would like to find out more information about his family tree. I have gotten as far back as the 1900 Census and it looks like the family was living in Caldwell, Texas and came to the U.S. from Mexico in 1889. The family history I need help working from is Marcos Zapata and Francisca Sanchez. They had several children: Braulia, Juan, Manuela, Jose, Rosalio, Eulalio and Augustin Zapata. My stepdad's name is Augustin Zapata and he was named after his grandfather. His father's name is Alfredo Zapata and his mother is Avelina Zapata. My stepdad doesn't really speak to his dad's side of the family so any help anyone can give me would be appreciated.

Thank you,
Arturo

Chris, I am also researching the Zapata lineage. I saw that you had some info about a Brigida Zapata born around 1850, by any chance was her husband's name Julian born in 1839? Did they come from Rio Grande Zacatecas? or San Matias Pinos Zacatecas? thanks for checking.

hello Maros, I just saw your posting. My husband's mothers maiden name is Zapata. She was born in Lockhart Texas. I have been researching the Zapata tree for over 20 yrs. I believe your line is one of the ones that I have very little info on. Actually, from your grandfather Marcos forward. Lets see if this info matches your line.
was your grandfather Marcos married to Maria Francisca Sanchez? they had 2 kids that I know of. Herculana married to George V. and Jose married to Maria V. I believe this is where your parents or you come in. Marcos married to Ernestina, they had 4 children, Marcos jr, Rueben, Leandro, Nancy and Minerva. I hope to hear from you if this is your line. By the way, this Zapata family came from Zacatecas Mexico.
My mother's real last name is Zapata. Her dad's last name was Zapata. All I know he died in Guanajuato, Mexico. She didn't get to meet her dad. One thing I know for a fact is that there is a big part of the Zapatas family in Guanajuato, Mexico. I hope this helps.

Garcia Zapata- Puerto Rico b. abt 1820

I am looking for information on Felipe Garcia Zapata and his wife Maria Josefa Pabon Silvestri.
I have records on them from Cabo Rojo, Puerto Ríco.
They married on 18 Nov 1857

So far I have found only 2 sons;
Juan Garcia Pabon (who lived in Lajas) & Antonio Garcia Pabon

Juan was my Great Grandfather.
I also found a picture of him when he was very old, which was exciting!
Anyhow, I doubt they could have only had these two sons, although I could be wrong.

Interested to see if anyone has any information on Felipe's children and/or ancestry.

As for Felipe, I have 2 sisters only.

Regards, Jocelyn
hjocelyn@hotmail.com

Juan Gutierres was born in 1870 (perhaps in Mexico) and died in 1976.
Chris -
Thank you for the printed information. Can't wait to receive the scans (if you are able to find them).

Personally, money is not my interest here. I have been richly blessed in my lifetime and choose to live a non-materialistic, basic and simple life. I'm the odd one in my family, I guess you could say! My love of researching the family is for learning the history. I have asked my parents for years about their family history and they were not able to even provide the names of their grandparents because they didn't know them. They both came to Michigan in the early 1940's when they were 5 and 7 years old. Their grand parents died before they were old enough to really remember them. I'm fortunate enough to have five living generations right now. My grandson's are 4 and 5 and they get to see their mom, grandma, great-grandparents, and great-great-grandmother at least once a week. I know they will treasure that when they get to be older and have their own families. And with all the research I will have saved for them, they will be able to go even deeper into their family history.

Now that my parents have an interest in learning more from their older siblings and documents that they've had all their life, I'm grabbing it up and loving every minute of it. I have been declared the family historian because my house is a shrine to all my research I've completed for my family and other families and friends. I'm also a quilter (and that's what fills up the rest of my house!). Part of my love of quilting is putting old family pictures and documents into my quilts. I Look forward to hearing from you again really soon.

P.S. - Margarito and Petrita had more than two children. I've pulled them off the Mexican Parish Records. I'll dig up my printouts and email you with the info I have.

Barb
Feliz Navidad

Hi Olivia,

I'm Mr. Mary Zapata of San Matias Sto. Tomas Pampanga, My late granfather is a farmer too likewise my father nowadays. If you heard of Moises Zapata(a.k.a Lolo Bosic) is my late grandfather who used to lived in "Pirsa" which is a place from San Fernando Pampanga near San Matias. I am also a family tree searcher of our ancestry and as I've talk to my uncle's the origins of ZAPATA's were from that place("PIRSA")which their nature of living is farming, fishing and tailoring. Now, there are many Zapata's in San Matias, in San Vicente, Moras, and still in "PIRSA". I hope to hear from you.
Regards,
Mary Zapata
Can Pack Middle East
Dubai

Hi Barbara,
as far as the number of children born to Margarito Martinez & Petrita there were 2, Antonio & Teresa. Those are the only 2 I have found so far. As far as Jose Antonio Martinez & Ma. Juana (Ana) Josefa Gutierrez de Lara, they had 14 Children. Ma. Nepomucena Quirina Martinez: bapt. Jan 12, 1811 in Guerrero; Jose Policarpio Martinez: bapt. Feb 01, 1812 in Guerrero; Jose Antonio Apolonio Martinez: bapt. Feb 14, 1813 in Guerrero; Jose Margarito Nepomuceno Martinez: bapt. Jun 13, 1816 in Guerrero (your Grandfather); Jose Simon Martinez: bapt.? died: May 30, 1817 in Guerrero; Jose Rafael Nepomuceno Martinez: bapt.Oct 29, 1817 & died- Oct 29, 1817 in Guerrero; Jose Ma. Eduardo Martinez: bapt. Oct 20, 1818; Ma. Alejandra Martinez: bapt. Apr 30, 1821 in Guerrero; Anacleta Martinez: bapt. Jul 12, 1823 in Guerrero; Jose Agapito Martinez: bapt. Sep 22, 1825 in Guerrero; Ma. Gregoria Martinez: bapt. Mar 14, 1827 in Guerrero; Ma. Juliana Martinez: Jan 12, 1829 in Guerrero; Juan Jose Martinez: bapt. Feb 09, 1831 in Guerrero and Jose Marcos Martinez: bapt. Apr 30, 1832 in Guerrero.
I need to look for the Documents and rescan them. I think the only Grant I know of was to Eugenio Gutierrez de Castro which everyone in South Texas knows of is Los Oujelos "I think that's how you spell it. If He is my 6th Great Grandfather (you can enter Eugenio Gutierrez in the TXHandbook Online website and it will pop up.) I'm not quite sure how things were done legally back then but somehow it skipped all the Gutierrez descendants from my 5th Great Grandfather - Isidro Gutierrez (Eugenio's son) line down. The Land & Mineral rights now belong to a small few of Guerra's & their Families. Isidro had quite a few children but it even skipped all of them including my 4th Great Grandmother Ma. Matiana Gutierrez & her husband Mariano Benavides. Now her sister Ma. Petra del Refuio Gutierrez married an Ignacio Guerra. They had a few children but the one named Jose Maria Guerra married to Adela Aguirre from the Laredo area became the Land and Mineral Rights Owners.

I think it's so Funny how so many people struggle every day just to earn a buck and yet all those years they worked so hard to make those Dollars stretch; and at the end when you take your last breath... what was the big hoopla over. A piece of paper with a dead president on it. If it can't go with me when I leave this place, then there's no reason for me to start collecting it when I'm here. All it does is bring the "BEST" out of people.

I'm looking through my Pina and Zapata Tree and I can't find you. I have stopped for the moment working on the Pina Tree so that I can send copies to everyone in hopes that distant cousins will help fill in the missing blanks. Last week I sent out 50 trees to Family members all over the country. It is a 20 page PDF of all my work that I have accumilated over the past 19 years. I know that you are distant kin to me and I would love to share what I have with you and your side of the Family.
Please E-mail me at ChrisMartinez214@yahoo.com and I can either E-mail you the 20 pages or I can make a copy like I did for everyone else and snail mail it to you. That way you don't have to waste ink and paper printing it out.

Thanks Again,
Christopher

I attached the death certificate of Antonio Zapata (my 3rd Great Grandfather) and it has Francisco Zapata and Juana (Juan) Pina listed on it. They have Juana as Juan. Enjoy. If interested I have a picture of Canuta Benavides; Antonio's wife nd my GGG Grandmother.

Hey Javier,
I made a mistake when I told you that my Isidro Gutierrez's parents were Eugenio Gutierrez & Olaya Gutierrez. Unfortunately I don't have any info on this individual.
Also, I was looking up the Mexican Parish Records and I did not seem to find any Isidro Gutierrez married to Guadalupe Gonzalez or Pena from Guerrero. Do you know anything abt the Pena line? I'll look through my trees here at the house and see if there is anything I can help you.

Sorry for the confusion with the Names,
Chris
