BROSSEAU MARIA ZAUNER TOTH Maria passed away November 9, 2003 leaving behind a family that truly loved and admired her for everything she brought to their lives. Maria Zauner came to the U.S. from Hungary when she was a young woman and became a surgical nurse in St. Paul, Minnesota. She attended the University of Minnesota working her way through as a nurse. However, her dream was to teach. Studies were difficult because she spoke little English and kept a dictionary nearby to translate the volumes of books she read. She graduated in 1962 with a teaching degree and moved with her family to San Diego. She pursued a Masters degree from SDSU and later taught at Clairemont and University High Schools as well as summer classes at Mesa and City Colleges. She taught French and German and was fluent in several languages. She was active socially and loved her friends from all walks of life. She became active in the House of Hungary and Mensa. Later, she remarried Louis Brosseau and retired from teaching. In her retirement, she enjoyed gourmet cooking and traveling. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Pamela. She is survived by two daughters, Rita and Marie and six grandchildren. We love you Mom! You mean the world to us. You are forever in our hearts.
