Hello Christine!

I am Marko Zdovc from Slovenia - Stajerska region.
I have seen your post here.
I live in Vojnik (near Celje). I will do a detailed research about my family tree in the future.
I have ask my grandfather many times if he knows anything about my ancestors. He was born in Lasko (Kuretno) also Stajerska region. He told me that his father remembered that surname ZDOVC goes back to the time period of Counts of Celje, where one member of a ZDOVC family was a supervisor for their land and property.

For the moment that is all I know.

Miro, I saw your post on this message board and it intrigued me because I see you were born in Koroska. Is that the same as Koroska Bela? My grandfather, Mijo Vengar, was born in Koroska Bela in 1896 and I am trying to research his family. I can't seem to find anything on the surname Vengar. Is there any connection to your family or do you know anything about the surname Vengar? Any help you could offer would be appreciated. Thank you.

I am looking for my cousin Terri Lynn Zdovc, who was married to Keith Johnson in Florida. They were/are living in Tennessee I believe.

Dear Christine!
I try two times to send you an e-mail but it seems that connection thruout angelfire is not working.
Anyway, as maybe you know i was born in NNE Slovenia. That is why I don`t know anyone in Ljubljana who can be my relative. From where they moved to Ljubljana I also do not know but I think that Zdovc surname came out somewhere in NE Slovenia. This surname can also be found in south Austria because there was "Slovenia" for centuries. The surname appears as Sdovc, but readed the same.
My gran granparents lived in Slovenj Gradec, where I will started my request in church,where they carefully collected all details about every "sheep" = every individual. It is interesting, that church priests didn`t wrote down only basic data as date of birth, name of parents. They put on paper also notice about behavior,donating the money to the church and all that stuff. This books are available to anyone. You must make an appointment first and donate some money for priest effort. Ja, since I moved to W part of SLO I`m going home let`s say every three months to spend some time with my family (only for weekends), so.....
Buuut, somewhere in future I will do a little search.

Hello Miro,
From my research I have found out that my great-great grandparents were Johan and Helen Zdovc. Helen's maiden name was Zelicka. I have also found out that my great-grandfather and his brothers and sisters (Johan & Helen's children) were born in Ljubljana, Slovenia Yugoslavia. I know that some of them stayed in Yugoslavia and obviously some came to the USA. If you send me your e-mail we can write to each other to find out if indeed we are related. I have just discovered that Keith Johnson's (he posted the first message on the board) wife is a cousin of mine. I'll be waiting to hear from you.

Hello! I am almost 30 and i am living
in Slovenia - Europe.I was born in region
named Koroska (Carintia in english)where I
am at least 5th generation as far as i know.
So I suggest to anyone, that they must surch
in Slovenia and I think also in Austria
(if we look back in history,Slovenians lived
in southern parts forming first state Karantanija
almost 1500 years ago). But in Austria you must
surch for Sdovc (german language!).By the way,
Hudimac is also somewhere near me. If I help you
