Surnames: BANKESTER, CONWAY, HEAD
THE CORRECT SPELLING OF THE NAME IS SIBLEY.
MY GGG GRANDFATHER WAS GEORGE WASHINGTON BANKESTER, AND FROM WHAT I UNDERSTAND SILAS SIBLEY FOUND HIM ON THE BANKS OF STAPLETON POND(THIS WAS BEFORE THE TOWN OF STAPLETON WAS NAMED)(THIS WAS AROUND THE TIME OF THE WAR OF 1812 AFTER THE MASSACRE AT FT. MIMS IN NORTH BALDWIN COUNTY) THE CHEROKEE WERE MOVING THROUGH THE (WHAT IS NOW KNOWN AS STAPLETON) AREA. THE CONWAYS HAD A LOT TO DO WITH RAISING HIM AND ALSO WROTE THE PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES (JAMES MADISON: WHO WAS A FIRST COUSIN TO THE CONWAYS) AND ASKED THAT HE BE NAMED (HENCE GEORGE WASHINGTON
BANKESTER) HE APPEARS ON THE 1814 CNESUS.
