I am a genealogist & have researched lineage on the Castex family and have completed 3-4 generations beyond Lawrence Zeno Castex. I am now compiling more extensive data on each generation. I believe your Zeno is the same person as my Castex (now deceased) who served in the U.S. Navy & did travel to Germany. Any historical data or stories you have would be greatly appreciated and I would likewise be glad to share information that I have obtained as well. Thanks!

Hello:

My name is Tara Aileen O'Neil, I am the granddaughter of Helen Zeno O'Neil, Edward Zeno was my greatgrandfather. I have a picture of Bernard "Bunny" O'Neil. Bunny used to own the "Andrew's Inn" in Bellows Falls as well. Bunny only owned the inn or a short time; there is a famous story of him getting angry and throwing all of the furniture out of the windows on to the main street of the town square. He was a very colorfull fellow. As for Eddy, he was a chef. I have family pictures of the Bakery and Edward. My grandmother married Joseph O'Neil.

I have been researching the Zeno, Zenon, Zinon family lineage and it has led me to Mary, aka mazie. I think her spouse was Lawrence Castex, dob: 15 Mar 1901 & I think he had a son Lawrence Castex, JR whose dob was: 27 Mar 1924. I cannot trace the Castex line at all due to inexperience. The last name seems to get lost into Caster, Castes, etc. Do you have dates of birth/death, etc on the Castex line either up or down generations so that I may further research Mary Zeno & make sure I have the right persons? Thanks so much

Hi, my maiden name was Zeno but I found through researching my family tree that my Grandfather's name was changed when he came here from Italy. His real surname is Zana. Not sure where your ancestors are from but keep in mind that alot of names were changed as they immigrated over, so if you come to a stand still in your journey keep keep an open mind to names that might be similar.
Jennifer

Hi Tim. Mom doesn't remember but I've emailed my Aunts to see what they remember. What would your dad like to know? My Grandfather, Bernard Zeno owned a Bakery in Bellows Falls, VT. His children: Dottie, Helen, Judy, Paul and Shirley (my mom). Most of the family are still on the east coast. Uncle Paul died a couple years ago of cancer. Judy is in Conn., Helen in Mass and Dottie in Vt. Gram Zeno (kitty) is in a nursing home and is 93 years old. Anything else I can tell you?
I am responding on behalf of my father, Harland Zeno. My dad's father was named Fred. Fred had a brother named Edward. Edward had a son Bernard. This is the same Bernard that you are asking about. My dad is telling me that Shirley used to come up to his grandmother Louise's house in New Haven Mills, VT. If you have any questions, please feel free to e-mail back. He has many questions about his relatives from Bellows Falls. We look forward to hearing back from you so that we may "catch-up." Thanks so much, Tim.

Bernard Zeno- Bellows Falls

Hi Tracy,
I've been reading over these posts and I'm wondering if you know the names of your grandfather Bernard's parents? I've been tracking down descendants of the PENDERS family for years, and a Mary Penders married an Edward Zeno of Bellows Falls, Vermont on 19 February 1908. Mary died rather young, (before 1920), but I believe she and Edward had 3 children- Bernard, Helen and Edward. I do know that the elder Edward and Bernard both worked as bakers. It's possible Edward remarried after Mary's death. Would love to hear from you to possibly add some more names to this family tree which is already over 300 people! I have information on Mary's parents and siblings if this is the right Edward Zeno. Thanks in advance!

Lisa Dougherty
