I am looking for information on John Zetterberg. We know he was born in Swedan around 1859, according to his death certificate which has his last name spelled Setterberg. He married Emma Nelson (also from Swedan) on March 2nd, 1898. They lived in Chicago, IL. He died on November 22, 1898 just 8 months after they married and 5 months before his son was born. His son's name was John August Zetterberg who married Ruth Yocum.
Thanks.

I know a Natali Zetterberg from South America (Peru)

Hi I have a friend with the last name "zetterberg", she works with me, I am doing a research about my last name and genealogy, but some day I asking her what was her last name, she said "zetterberg", she told me that his great grandfather and grandfather came from sweden (If I remember) and her family were altmost kill in the WWII, she told me too that her grandfather saw how a german soldier took one of their grandson of the legs (a baby) and smash it up in a wall, was a very sad story for me. She said that she is the only Zetterberg family that immigrated to southamerica (like my family) and well we are living in Lima, Peru.

If you know some connection of some Zetterberg family from Peru and elsewhere, please post a message.

Thank you

Bye

Renzo Chlebowski
Setterberg/Zetterberg Connection

After decades of getting nowhere on my Zetterberg ancestry, I got a lead on my great-grandfather's Swedish origins, and signed up for a trial membership on Genline, since his home parish was included. It's been worth it - though I'm suffering eye strain from reading blurry old parish documents in Swedish over a computer screen! But - I've added several generations to my Zetterberg tree!

Anyway, I've tracked my family back to Vadstena in the mid-1700's. The interesting thing is, their name is reported as both Zetterberg and Setterberg (sometimes for the same individual at different times). So I want to recommend that you search for both names when doing research. There's a definite crossover.

Also when we were in Stockholm last month, I noticed that the phone book cross-references both names (i.e., see also: Setterberg).

Zetterbergs: Sweden - Minnesota

Would love any information about my great-grandfather, Anders (Andrew) Gustav Zetterberg, who was born in Sweden - possibly Goteborg area - about 1828, emigrated to the US, settled in Minnesota, where he died about 1899. He was married to Maria (Mary) Christina Swanstrom, and they had two children who survived to adulthood: William A. and Alma or Elma.

He also may have had a first wife and children, family lore says this first family all died in a flood.

I'd appreciate information on his birthplace, parents, any siblings.

--Julie Zetterberg
http://members.aol.com/nebula5/zfamtree.html

Anders Gustav Zetterberg from Östergötland

Ryan,
I don't know if you're still reading here, but I don't have any other way to get in touch. My husband and I recently visited Sweden and visited our ancestor's home town of Väderstad in Östergötland. I've also learned more about his ancestors and his first wife and family.

His parents were Nils Gustaf Setterberg(!) and Stina Andersdotter. He was born in Väderstad in 1831, not 1828 as we had always thought (and which is on his gravestone). He was an only son, but had two older sisters. He was a tinsmith by occupation, both in Sweden and the US.

He and his first wife, Eva Maja Nilsdotter, and their children, left Sweden for the US on 30 April 1868. As you know, they settled in Carver, Minnesota. On 18 April 1870, the wife and all the children drowned while boating on the Minnesota River.

I have more information, and continue to learn even more. Please contact me if you are curious.

--Julie Zetterberg Sardo
http://members.aol.com/nebula5/zfamtree.html

Sometime after settling in Minnesota, his wife and young children were drowned while crossing the ice on the Minnesota river. He later married Mary Swanstrom who had also imigrated from Sweden. It is from this second family that my present family is descended.
Andrew and Mary had two children:Alma and William A. Zetterberg.
(1)Alma married Clarence Gibson, a dentist. They had three children: Clarence, Naomi, and Grace.
(2)William was born on January 2nd,1880. He married Cora Hunt.

I have lots more information, just contact me to see where we are related. I am building a website with full family tree history.

My great grandfather was August Zetterberg, he first came to
Minnesota, but later settled in Chicago with his wife, Martha(nee Franson) around 1900, they met here in the states. They had three children - Carl, Alphield, Francis and Hildur. August had a drinking problem and Martha turned him away and raised the children herself. August was a stone carver and after Martha did this, he lost most contact with the family and the story goes he was found dead of exposure in or near Indianapolis(on a job) in the dead of winter after a long night of drinking. I have not been able to prove this true. I can't find any death records after writing the various counties in Indiana. Could John and August be related?

I am looking for information on an August Zettterberg, my G-Grandfather, who came over from Sweden to Minnesota in the 1870/1880's. He married a Martha Franson here in Chicago and had three children. He had a drinking problem so Martha put him out. He was a stone carver and the story is he died of exposure somewhere in Indiana while on a job. Any info here would be appreciated.
