TIPTON, Iowa - William Richard Ziba, 86, of Tipton, died Saturday, April 1, 2000, at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City.
Services will be at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church. The Rev. Mary Eggerling will officiate. Organist will be Jan Penningroth and vocalist will be Andrew Last. Burial will be at the Masonic Cemetery in Tipton with military rites.
Visitation will be at Fry Funeral Home in Tipton. Memorials may be made to Tipton Education Foundation.
Mr. Ziba was born on Oct. 11, 1913, in Lively Grove, Ill., the son of William John and Christina Walta Ziba. He married Violet Rochholz on July 3, 1941, in Kahoka, Mo.
He received his education in Enid, Okla. and Caldwell, Kan.
He was a contractor for over 25 years, retiring in 1975, as a union bricklayer-mason.
He was a member of the Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church.
He was a lifetime member of the VFW and D.A.V., the American Legion, the Moose Lodge and the Elks of Muscatine; twice past president of Bricklayers, Masons and Plasterers Union of Iowa.
He served in the U.S. Army Air Corp.
Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Violet Ziba of Tipton; his daughters Elaine Moes and her husband, Michael Jr., of Tipton and Linda Smith and her husband, J.C., of Omaha, Neb.; grandchildren, Melissa, Stephanie and Aaron
Moes and Derek and Jennifer Ames; sisters, Helen Ferguson and her husband, Charles, of Douglass, Kan. and Lillian Allen and her husband, Pat, of Medford, Okla.; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Christina Ziba; his sisters, Clara Watsek and Marie Wood; and brothers, Joe, John and Edward Ziba.
