Classification: Query
Surnames: Martin, Duffeler, Josse, Zicot
I have an ancestor named Marie Zicot who came from Perwez, Brabant, Belgium about 1855 to Green Bay Wisc area. She was approxiamtely 60 years old at that time, widow of a man named Josse. She accompanied her daughter Cecile Josse and son-in-law Francois Martin and their children to start a new life in the wilderness. She lived well into her 70's or perhaps older near Champion/Robbinsonvile, Wisconsin. She may also have lived in DePere at the end of her life
Zicot is a rare name in Belgium. Some information I have received indicates the "first Zicot" may have come to Belgium as a soldier from Croatia in the 1600s and that the name Zicot may be related to the Croatian word for hare.
I'm interested in corresponding with anyone who has ancestors named Zicot
kind regards, Brian
