My great grandfather was Carl Ziemann born around Dramburg, but not until about 1845. So it is unlikely that your Johann was a brother, but he could easily have been a cousin.

Carl married a Wilhelmina Schiefelbein.

Herman F. Ziemann 11 Feb 1834

Does anyone have any information on Herman Ziemann, born 11 Feb 1834 (presumably in Posen, Prussia). The middle name is believed to be Frederick (tombstone confirms F.) Death date is 22 May 1921 in Becker Co, MN. The Minnesota Territorial and State Censuses, 1849-1905, lists what appears to be a match: Hurmon (or Hurman) Ziemann living in 1895 in Lake Crystal, Blue Earth, MN. Wife was listed as Hanna, and the children listed on that census: August, Hurman, Rickey (or Richer), Charles, and Willey. I beleive the Hurman to be Herman Frederick (b.19 Nov 1873 d. 16 Jan 1954 in Becker Co, MN). A photo of Herman F. Ziemann is attached.

Ziemann/Bruesewitz in Fall Creek, WI

Looking for any information on my Ziemann ancestors from Wisconsin. My ancestor came to the US approximatly 1870 supposedly to avoid conscription in the Franco-Prussian War. Ferdinand Ziemann was born 3 Feb 1840 in West Prussia, Germany. He died 2 Aug 1901 in Fall Creek, WI. In his application for naturalization he cited that he had been a subject of William of Germany.

Ferdinand married Wilhelmiene Bruesewitz. Wilhelmiene was born 21 June 1854 in Pommern (possibly Sabes), Germany. She died 16 Sept 1934 in Fall Creek, WI. It is possible that they came together as a married couple or seperately as I don't know where or when they married. Wilhelmiene's mother and at least one brother, Henry, also settled in Fall Creek. They are all buried at St. James Lutheran Church.

Ferdinand and Wilhelmiene had 5 children: Julius (who stayed in Fall Creek and operated a bank and a Hardware store); Gustave Henry Ziemann (b. 1877 in Fall Creek) who settled in Southwick, Idaho: Herman (b. 1880 Fall Creek and never married, d. 1934 Southwick, Idaho); Amanda Ziemann Sizer (b. 1881, d. 1902 left one son who lived in Texas), and Adelheid (b. 1883, d.1885 in Fall Creek).

Gustave Henry Ziemann (parents Ferdinand Ziemann and Wilhelmiene Bruesewitz) was born 3 July 1877 in Fall Creek, WI. He died 23 May 1934 in Lewiston, Idaho. Gustave married Wilda H. Keeney (they met in Kendrick, Idaho). Wilda H. was born 31 Mar 1886 in near Brownsville, Oregon. From approximately 1906 on they operated Ziemann Brothers Store in Southwick, Idaho. They had the following children: George Allen, Daniel, Jane, Warner "Ike", and the twins Robert and John.

Re: Looking for family

My grandfather arrived in Baltimore from Germany in the 1880's, and went on to Bloomer Wisconsin and bought an 80 acre farm. My father and two of his brothers Theodore and
Henry were born there. My grandmother was Emilie Tietz. I was born in Milwaukee in 1925 and moved to California after
I was discharged from the Army Air Corps in 1946. Our family
tree is very scarce, however my great grand father was August Ziemann who was from Prozenkel Germany.

Hi Marco,
My name is Mariquita. I live in Texas but was born in Canada. My mother is a Ziemann.
Her father was John Ernst Albert Ziemann. His father was Johann Ernst Gottlieb Ziemann, born 5 October 1829 in Zuelshagen, Kreis Dramburg, Pommern, Prussia. He emigrated to Ontario, Canada in 1856 with his wife, Fredericka Carolina Henrietta Janke, and two children: Heinrich Hermann born in Zobenherplatt and Anna Maria Augusta
born in Ornabek. Six more children were born in Canada, including my grandfather. I have searched high and low for information about my great-grandfather Johann Ziemann.
Could there be a connection with your Ziemann ancestors and mine. Please write and perhaps we can come up with a clue to the mystery. My E-mail address is:
QUITA22456@aol.com
