These are my great grandparents! Unfortunately I am also having trouble finding her information. Evelyn M, their daughter, is my father's mother. I found her on a couple of census after she was married but nothing prior. One of my family members remembered her maiden name but I have been unable to confirm it so I was glad to see your post!
How are you related to Albina?

I found as much as I could for you in the census and the Mich Secretary of State records:

1870 United States Federal Census
Name: Fred Koehn
Estimated Birth Year: abt 1845
Age in 1870: 25
Birthplace: Mecklenburg
Home in 1870: Detroit Ward 10, Wayne, Michigan
Race: White
Gender: Male
Post Office: Detroit
Occupation: laborer
Household Members:
Fred Koehn 25
Frederica Koehn 24
Anna Koehn 4/12*

*This census was taken in July, making this Anna's birth about February. There are so many errors on these early records that it's hard to figure out the kids (see list below). Comparing the numbers on the page, Anna's age could be 9/12, which would fit birth date below.

1880 United States Federal Census
Name: Fritz Kohn
Home in 1880: 315 Sherman St, Detroit, Wayne, Michigan
Age: 35
Estimated Birth Year: abt 1845
Birthplace: Mecklenburg, Germany
Relation to Head of Household: Self (Head)
Spouse's Name: Friederika
Father's Name: Johaun
Father's birthplace: Mecklenburg, Germany [West Pomerania]
Mother's birthplace: Mecklenburg, Germany
Occupation: Laborer
Marital Status: Married
Race: White
Gender: Male
Household Members:
Fritz Kohn 35
Friederika Kohn 33
Anna Kohn 10
Gustav Kohn 4 (August on marriage)
Emma Kohn 2 (Lillie in 1900 census)
Johann Kohn 75; laborer (Fred's father! b. abt 1805)

There was another Frederick Kohen in Detroit, b. abt 1847, but he died 2 Dec 1897, and we know your Fred was living in 1900:

1900 United States Federal Census
Name: Fred Koehn
Home in 1900: 408 Sherman Ave, Detroit Ward 11, Wayne, Michigan
Age: 53
Birth Date: Mar 1847
Birthplace: Germany
Race: White
Ethnicity: American
Gender: Male
Immigration Year: 1865
Relationship to Head of House: Head
Father's Birthplace: Germany
Mother's Birthplace: Germany
Spouse's Name: Fredrica
Marriage year: 1866
Marital Status: Married
Years Married: 34
Occupation: day laborer
Household Members:
Fred Koehn 53
Fredrica Koehn 53, b. Sep 1889, MI

1910 United States Federal Census
Name: Frederick J Koehn
Age in 1910: 65
Estimated Birth Year: abt 1845
Birthplace: Germany
Relation to Head of House: Head
Father's Birth Place: Germany
Mother's Birth Place: Germany
Spouse's Name: Fredericks
Home in 1910: 408 Sherman St, Detroit Ward 11, Wayne, Michigan
Marital Status: Married
Race: White
Gender: Male
Year of Immigration: 1860 [1863 / 1865]
Occupation: laborer / lumber yard
Household Members:
Frederick 65
Fredericks 63; laundress / working out; 5 children/3 living

1920 United States Federal Census
Name: Fred Koehn
Home in 1920: 408 Sherman, Detroit Ward 11, Wayne, Michigan
Age: 74 years
Estimated Birth Year: abt 1846
Birthplace: Germany
Relation to Head of House: Head
Spouse's Name: Freda
Father's Birth Place: Germany
Mother's Birth Place: Germany
Marital Status: Married
Race: White
Sex: Male
Home owned: Own
Year of Immigration: 1868
Able to read: Yes
Able to Write: Yes
Household Members:
Fred Koehn 74
Freda Koehn 73

living upstairs:
Charbonneau Edward, 35; fireman / city
Anna, 42
Donald, 5

Where would Anna be found in 1910, 1920 & 1930? The age of Anna above isn't right (which doesn't mean a lot in the census!)

Koehn children:

1) Chas, b. 21 Jun 1868, Detroit
Father: Frederich Koehn
Mother: Frederika
death:
Charles, d. 23 Jul 1868, Detroit
Parents: Fred, Fredreka

2) Minnie (aka Anna), b. 18 Oct 1869, Detroit
Father: John Koehn [dad was probably "Frederick Johan"]
Mother: Frederika
death: between 1870 & 1880 (not mentioned in the 1880 census)

2 or 3) Annie, b. 1870, MI--She was b. Jan 1871 acc'd to the 1900 census, but I don't think that's correct
m. Andrew Zink, 23 Feb 1889, Detroit
Groom's Parents: George Zink, Annie Fead
Note: Perhaps you know Anna's birthday so that you can figure out which girl is her on this list!

3) Wilhelmina, b. 25 Sep 1871, Detroit
Father: Fritz Koehn (b. GER)
Mother: Fredericka
death: by 1880, unless she is Annie, but dob doesn't match Annies' in the 1900 census (but that could be wrong)

4) August (Gustav), b. 15 Dec 1875, Detroit (it says Augusta, Female, but I think this is your "man")
Parents: Frederick "Kern" & Frederica
m. Amelia Hetdke, 31 Aug 1907, Detroit

5) Emma (Lillie--maybe her middle name)
b. 9 Mar 1878, Detroit
Parents: Frederick & Fredericka "Kueher" (poor transcription)
m. Walter Hempel, 19 Dec 1906, Detroit

Zink children:

Stella, b. 16 Sep 1889, Detroit
Parents: Andrew & Anna

Walter, b. 6 Nov 1892, Detroit
Parents: Andrew & Anna
death: 8 Mar 1893, Detroit

Walter, b. 6 Nov 1893, Detroit--likely same as Walter above but with mix-up on year of birth
Parents: Andrew & Anna
death: by 1900 (not mentioned in that census)

I hope this helps!
Joan

Anna and Andrew Zink in Michigan

Anna was born in 1870 in Michigan and died 1951 in Michigan. She is buried in Gethsemane Cemetery in Detroit, Michigan. Her parents were Frederick Koehn and Fredericka Gottschalk. Andrew was born 1867 in Germany. I think that he was a tailor. They had a daughter Stella born in 1889. I would like any information on these people. Thank you.

Verona; was born in 1844, a native of Pennsylvania, and a son of Jacob Zink and Sarah Graver; came to Wisconsin in the spring of 1846, and located in Verona. The family belong to the Presbyterian Church of Verona; in politics, he is a Republican. Mr Zink has a beautiful farm of 200 acres, situated on the Sugar River, worth $30 per acre, with first-class improvements.
Your mother and my father (Morris Ashcraft Sisler) were 1st cousins, Your grandfather was my father's "Uncle Charlie Sisler". His Uncle Charlie was a druggist and later a travelling drug saleman. Charles Sisler settled in Dexter, Missouri as a teen when his father Dr. James Sisler MD established a medical practice there in the late 1880s. I don't know much about Charles and Stella's children , but would be interested in learning their history. I have lots of information about the Sisler and associated families which is available to you.

John Sisler

One possibilityis that you are decended from James Wilson Zink and wife Sarah Grant Britton. He was born in Indiana, married her 1867 Iowa. Then they moved to Nebraska. One of their children , Clarence. moved to Utah and married Celestia there. Then Clarence and family, in addition to at least one of his siblings, moved to Idaho and Oregon.

Zink - East New York, Brooklyn, NY

Looking for information on Zinks that immigrated from Germany (Bavaria) to New York and settled in Brooklyn mid to late 1800s. George and Margaretha had a son, Joseph after arriving. Joseph married Mary Regen, who had immigrated from Germany as a girl with her parents. Regens and Zinks lived in the same house at 147 Sumpter St. in Brooklyn until 1962. Any information or others interested in these families welcome. Also looking for a possible connection to Zinks or Regens who may have settled in upstate New York, possibly Syracuse area.

My tree is at http://trees.ancestry.com/pt/pedigree.aspx?tid=4564839&p...
I am Carol Downey, My mother was Opal (Zink) Rhine. My grandmother was Rosa Zink, married to Theodore Zink, and lived in Tippecanoe Co., IN. We have been told that a Great-Grandfather escaped Nazi Germany at age 14, and came to America. Could this be the same one? Is it possible to see the letter.
Thanks for any help!!!
Carol

want info on Theodore Zink, born ca. 1885-1887

I am looking for information on my great-grandfather, Theodore Zink. I have a formal photograph, marked as taken in 1910 and identifying him as 24 years old. I believe it was taken in Indiana, near Lafayette--perhaps Mulberry, where he lived when my grandmother was born. Theodore's wife's name was Rosa, maiden name Golden. My grandmother's name was Opal, and her brother was Eldon. Eldon never married and produced no children. Family legend has it that Theodore's father or grandfather narrowly escaped conscription in Germany, was smuggled out of the country and sent to the US at age 12. While I would be interested in any information on Theodore Zink, I would especially like to corroborate and flesh out the story of his forebear's immigration to the US.

I am writting a history of our church, Glad Tigings Assemblies of God in Anderson, Indiana. At the time your father and mother were here it First Assembly of God. was from Oct 1966 til February 1967. His brother-in law, your uncle Lloyd Wead took over for him at that time. I am trying to write short biography of each pastor and their wife. I don't have a lot on you parents. I have a DOB and DOD for your father but nothing on your mother. Her DOB / DOD, her parents name, marriage date and place. Stuff like that that would be in a short biography of someone. Any information like that woulf be appriciated to include in this book. Any information that you may have on Lloyd and Mildred Wead would be appriaciated also. I have a picture of your parents when they were here that someone in our congregation gave to me. If you have a picture of Lloyd and Mildred, that would be desireable also. I have written one of their sons that pastors a church in Utah, but have had no response. You can e-mail me directly at sstrole@rsrcorp.com if it is easier. Thanks in advance for the information

Zink, Ingles family inquiry

I have the 1840 census of Gallia Co with a John Zink listed. In 1850, Gallia Co., Perry Twp is a widowed, Sr. John Zink, born in VA, with 3 children, James Madison, Sarah and William Zink.

Right next door is John Zink Jr., born in VA, married to Elizabeth Ingles, also born in VA, with two children, James and William M. (listed here as what appears to be Thomas??).

The Senior John was born about 1792 and John Jr. was born about 1822.

I have information on Wm. M. Zink, including his death certificate, which lists his parents and verifies they were born in VA.

I also know that James Madison Zink, son of John Zink Sr., married and moved to Indiana.

I was hoping that someone would have additional information about these families. If you can assist, I would love to hear from you.
Suicide of Miss Cora E. Zink

Appears in the Terrell Times-Star, Terrell, Kaufman County, Texas 25 September 1891 ...

A Sad Suicide

Last Monday evening Miss Cora E. Zink, daughter of Buck Zink, who has been living for some time with Mrs. Thomas who resides on Virginia Street, came to town and purchased some arsenic. Returning home she met a friend and told her that she was going to take the arsenic but of course shw thought to be joking. She went on home however, and about half after three o'clock she took two spoonsful of the arsenic. Mrs. Thomas found that she was very sick and bout half after five o'clock Dr. Stroud was sent for and it was found that the young lady had taken the poison with suicidal intent. Dr. Stroud called Dr. George F. Powell in consultation and the two physicians worked with the patient but could no save her from the powerful dose of poison she had taken. The best they could do was alleviate the pain she was suffering, and about four o'clock Tuesday morning she died. The following letter to Mrs. Thomas was found:

Mrs. Thomas, Dear Friend: I will write you a few lines for the last time for me to ever pick up a pencil. I am going to the land where I will have no trouble or sorrow. My troubles are so great that I can never bear with them. Hiram is the only boy I ever loved or that I ever will or want to, and I can never love another; and to live and have it thrown in my face every day! no. I will never do it. So I am gone. Good bye, good bye. Cora E. Zink

She was about 18 years old and the cause of her suicide is believed to be a disappointment in love, which is alluded to in the latter part of her letter to Mrs. Thomas, and about which she had no doubt been teased a great deal. Her chastity is not questioned. Squire Frank held an inquest over the body Tuesday morning and the coroner's verdict was that she came to death by poison administered by her own hands. She was buried at College Mound Tuesday evening. Her death was a sad one and greatly regretted.
