I too am a direct descendent of the mysterious John Zion married to Lucy McCormick of Lee County, VA.

My great-aunt has done a lot of the research of my line through John's son McCormick, and contributed to the book, EARLY SETTLERS of Lee County, VIRGINIA and ADJACENT COUNTIES VOLUME II, Chapter XII, Pages 546-549. You can find my line there up through my father's generation.

My Aunts and Uncles are also interested in finding more about where John came from. We too have the family tradition that appears to be echoed by several lines that we are Pennsylvania Dutch (of German descent), but no evidence has ever been found to confirm such an oral tradition. It is exciting about some of the possible finds I've read on this forum re: links to Pennsylvania and the relationship between John Zion and Jacob Blubaugh.

I could get a hold of the information from my family, if anyone is interested in the Gobble Family (McCormick's 2nd wife's family) which was not included in that chapter of the book. I have some dates and names--my aunt and uncle have the rest of my great-aunts documents.
