i am a zirger also. i am not sure how or where we are related. i wasg born in kansas and most of my zirger family is from kansas and oklahoma. i know zirger is an unusual name so i am sure we are related somehow. Someone mnay years ago traced my family back all the way to christian zuecher in germany born in the 1700's i believe. i have to find that document so we can share what knowledge we have of our families. i think it is interesting that my neice is named brianna zirger. but she is only 4

My relatives lived in Zemun (Austria-Hungary empire) they came along the Danube river to the Belgrade (Zemun).
My grandpa was Leon, his father was Joseph and his father
also was called Joseph.
My grand grad father was born in Bjeljina (Bosnia and Hercegovina).
My grand grad father's wife was called Katarina (Cathrine).

Hey Donna I think you are talking about my older brother Marty. I hate to say it but I really don't know where Marty is but I have to say that our father Martin Steven Zirger Sr. past away on 3/31/08 at 6:40pm while at his house in Tenn. He was with Michael and Donna at the time.

My gg grandmother's name is Barbara Zuercher, Zergier, Zirger, Zerger, you name it, I have found many different spellings. I have also found a scrap of paper in my g grandfather's box of photographs with an address of Medicine Lodge, Kansas on it. Is this anywhere near to where your Zirger ancestors lived? Your reply would be greatly appreciated. Joanne

Barbara Zuercher (Zergier, Zirger, etc,) came from Ohio. She was born on 7/23/1834. Married Frank George Fritz on April 6, 1859 at St. Michael's in Thompson Twp., Seneca Co., Ohio. They then came to Ottawa County, Michigan where they farmed. She died on March 15, 1908 and is buried in Grand Rapids, Michigan. I do know, however, that one of the sons, Philip Fritz, went to Kansas for a while before returning to Grand Rapids. I was thinking that maybe he went there because there were Zirger relatives there? Maybe I'm just grasping at straws, but I have so little background on that line of my family, that I look at every avenue. Philip was in the lumber business as well as carpentry and cabinet making. Were any of the Zirgers involved in anything like that?

Spooked! That is one hell of a loose way to put it. Here I am thinking I am being stalked by Lenny from "Of Mice and Men" and waiting for him to tend the damn rabbits!

Good to here from you again, you're right it has been awhile.

I am re-married to Diane, we have one boy (Ethan David Litchauer) who turns one on September 12. Another one on the way, scheduled departure from Diane, February 9, 2003 (We don't know the sex yet.) I've been working in sales for the last 8 years with the same company. The Sealy house you mentioned is actually on the market and we will be moving to a new home the first week in September (obviously you can tell we need the room.)

As for Sue's kids: Michelle is a Junior at Texas A&M University, Mandy is starting her Freshman year of Junior college and Brent will be a senior this year.

Steve has been divorced for a little over a year. Still only has the twins Aubrie and Emily.

Franks in L.A. still, single and missing the family.

Wendy has one girl Valerie and Karrie has one girl Jordan and one boy Mikey.

How are things on your end? What are you up to these days? Hows Peter? Haven't hear from him in ages... come to think of it I don't remember hearing from him at all..

Nonetheless we are still family so I hope both you and he are doing well.

Don't worry about the past... We all have things we may regret but we have to keep the road ahead in mind.

I found out that stuff about you and Sue yesterday on the net.
Is your father still with Jackie?
I couldn't understand why he wanted to start working over at Academy. I guess he wanted to stay busy,etc.

So what are you doing around Austin?, I thought you were managing a Paint plant down around galveston or something?
Married huh? Congratulations!! Do you have any children yet?
H'bout Steve, just the girls? Did he and Leah have another?
Sue got remarried huh? It's been years since I've seen her children, gosh they must be in high school, etc. by now.

My line: Anna Zirger daughter of Michael Zirger (hired soldier in Germany before he came to Kansas and became a farmer near Holton). Migrated to the United States in May 1882. Michael was the son of Johan Jacob Zurger (a sheppard born in 1806). Johan was the son of Johan Georg Jacob Zuerger (born in 1785). Georg Jacob Zuerger was the son of Georg Adam Zuerger who was a carpenter in Germany born 1743. His father, Johan Jacob Zuercher was a master carpenter in Germany born 1705.

Michael Zirger was north of Topeka near Holton Kansas.
Medicine Lodge is in South Kansas, SW of Wichita. They are not near each other. Do you have any other information on her?
