Zonas in Eastern Europe

John Zona  (View posts) Posted: 30 Oct 2000 9:50PM GMT
Anyone know of any Zonas in Eastern Europe? My father and grandfather are from Bratislava, Slovakia (formerly Czechoslovakia). I met a Zona (not related to me as far as I know) from St. Petersberg, Russia, and she told me this story: During the Napoleonic wars, Napoleon sought the help of some Italian officers. Apparently, one of the officers was a gentleman from Napoli named "Zona." I guess he liked it in Eastern Europe, made it home, and started a family. Any info regarding the Zona surname in Europe, or any geneaology info tracing it back to Italy would be much appreciated. Visit www.freetranslation.com. Ringraziarlo!
