Hi Karla,

I just found your post from April this year when I typed my mother's name into google.com. She is still alive, but barely, being now in hospice care at home in Raleigh, NC,and we don't expect her to last until the end of August. She could go at any time, but seems to have a strong constitution, like all the Kellys, as well as a strong will.
I am living in California now, and will check with my mother's two sisters to find out if they wish to communicate with you. I hope this is OK for you, as I'm certain you would like more information about the family, and they could probably give it to you.
I'm glad to know of you, and hope that we can meet someday.
If you'd like to write back directly, my email address is marilynzschau@yahoo.com. All the Best, Marilyn PS Ed and I have a sister, Dianne Zschau Beattie

I would be delighted to hear from you.
Hi Cheryl,

I am a ZSCHAU through my mother's paternal lineage. I am very interested in your branch of the ZSCHAU family and in particular would like to hear about the research your parents have done.

My 2nd great grandfather Gottlieb ZSCHAU arrived in New York City 03 July 1869 and married his sweetheart Susanna GRIESBACH 14 August 1869 in Greenfield, Franklin County, MA. Gottlieb was born 28 September 1843 in Wöllnau, Merseburg, in the Prussian province of Saxony.

My ZSCHAU's settled in the Greenfield/Montague area of western MA. I have heard of a ZSCHAU family from Germany that settled in Wisconsin but I have yet to find a link to them. There are so few ZSCHAU descendants I am convinced we should be able to find a connection someday.

Please contact me at rascalz98@yahoo.com and we can swap more detailed info.

Nancy

ZSCHAU's from Görschlitz, Germany

Would love to find new connections to this family! Here is an update on my ZSCHAU research to date:

Johanna Rosina STEPHAN was born 20 October 1787 in Wöllnau, Germany as the only daughter of the house owner Christian STEPHAN in Wöllnau.

She had five illegitimate children. One of them, a daughter by the name of Johanna Rosina SCHAUE (born 1 September 1807 in Wöllnau, died 18 August 1848 from 'Excessive wood gathering' (most likely overexertion); the Father of this illegitimate daughter was Gottlob SCHAU, son of the farmer N. SCHAU in Görschlitz. (N. is not an initial but most likely means Given Name not known.)

Johanna Rosina STEPHAN later married the Brick layer Johan Gottfried FÜSSEL.
Johanna Rosina SCHAUE never married, but had 4 illegitimate children (all by the name of SCHAU/SCHAUE/ZSCHAU and none with a known father):
1. Gottfried Heinrich (7 Jan. 1832 - 1 Nov 1836)
2. Amalie (17 Sept 1839 - unknown)
3. Friedrich Carl (11 June 1841-15 March 1842)
4. Gottlob (28 Sept 1843) This is my GOTTLIEB ZSCHAU!

Nancy

Then around the 1920's he came to the US. His son Herbert Charles Schau was my great-grandfather. His son Charles Schau is my grandfather. Then his son Randall Schau who is my father. Herbert Schau started the family business that we still have today.
