Ethnicity of Zuffa/Zsuffa

Classification: Query
Surnames: Zuffa Zsuffa
Hi all. As I read through numerous sources on the surname, I am beginning to think that the surname is actually Hungarian in origin and was adopted by ethnic Slovaks later.

This pattern would be consistent with many countries where the surnames of foreign nobles (Ireland for example) were later adopted by the local population. Several Anglo-Norman surnames (Devereux, Fitzhenry, Fitzgibbons, etc.) were brought to Ireland and later adopted by ethnic Irish.

I have seen several posting of the Zsuffa surname by those, within Hungary, who appear to be ethnic Hungarians. Granted, until the end of World War I, the Slovak lands were part of the Kingdom of Hungary.

Any comments or thoughts?
