Where did Zulaica Come from Prior to Villaldama, NL, MX?

I have checked on familysearch and all the info they have available on the net shows the earliest Zulaica to be in Villaldama (Boca de Leones), NL circa 1760s.

That is where I can trace my earliest Zulaica.

A Maria Guadalupe Eulalia Zulaica born 2-17-1788 to Juan Francisco Zulaica and Maria Nicolasa Galindo.

Maria Guadalupe Zulaica married Juan Nepomuceno Martinez on 5-11-1804 in Zaragoza, Coahuila.

I would like to know why, at least so far, familysearch shows Zulaicas only in Villaldama and up to the 1760s. Did they come directly from Spain then or was the name adopted by an Indian?

Also, FHC film # 0605602, which I have not seen yet, has the birth of Juan Francisco Zulaica and Nicolasa Galindo's children from 1786-1789.

thanks,
martie
