Hi, my name is Justine Sumwalt. I didn't know that there was a Zumwalt/Sumwalt association. Could you tell me more about it, please? I know I have a lot of family that is older than me, and my dad told me that we may be related to a Zumwalt. I'm trying to trace the German roots of my family, and I don't know much about what I'm doing...

Hello everyone... I am looking for information on Peter Zumwalt. Other researchers state that he married Anna Maria Price. Anna was born 5 Jan 1792 in Virginia, the daughter of Conrad and Anna Elizabeth (Mallo) Price. Anna was a brother to my 5th great grandfather, Michael Price... I am looking for any information on Peter and Anna.

Peter might have been born in Kentucky but it is just speculation...

In the 1805 Tax List Missouri Territory, Peter Zumwalt was listed. Zumwalt was spelled Zeumwalt...

He is also listed in From the books "Territorial Papers - Louisiana-Missouri Territory" 1803-1806, Volume XIII pages 468-486

He also purchased something in 1812 from his father-in-law's estate in St. Charles, MO...

Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

Juls

Also Aunt Kate Ingalls, Rose Dousley Lloyd, Belle Ridings, Mary Half, Ray Gray, Mary Kimball from the old Zumwalt/Callahan album. If any of these names are part of your families, I would be happy to send copies as soon as I can get them scanned. These would have been friends/family of Mariam (Mollie)Zumwalt(1854-1928) who was married to Levi Zumwalt (1848-1879)

Nancy Johnson

My grt grdf on my mothers side is Levi Isaac Zumwalt born 1848 in Franklin Mo. He was married to Mariam Catherine Dobbs in Nov 10, 1870. I have their large family bible that I'm sure came across the plains in 1876-77. I have just started to do research on the Zumwalts. My grandmother is their 2nd daughter, Sarah Ellen Zumwalt Callahan who was 3-4 yrs old when the family came west.
I'm curious if you found out anything about the wagon train they were in?
All but Levi are buried in the Waitsburg City Cemetery. I'm orig from Walla Walla and have been visiting there several times a year. I live in Walnut Creek, CA.
I have a picture of my grt grdmother as a young woman but nothing of Levi. I have an old picture album of the family but many of the pics are not identified. There are probably pics of some of the other Zumwalts.
My mother said she stopped by the old cemetary that Levi was buried in years ago but it was so overgrown with wild roses that she couldn't get in. I don't know exactly where it is except somewhere between Dayton & Waitsburg up in the hills. I never heard of whiskey creek but maybe the graveyard in near there. Next time I'm in the area, I'll try to find it.
Would you be willing to share any information you have on Levi. I'm also looking for info on Mariam (Mollie) but can't find anything but what is in the 1880 census. My mother said her father's name was William P Dobbs who was born in Indiana.
I find it amazing & exciting that so many people are doing family history searches. It would be fun to meet some of the "cousins" sometime.
Thanks, Nancy Johnson

Sarah Frances Fedora Zumwalt & Samuel David Zumwalt

Hello- I am a direct descendant of Sarah Frances Zumwalt (sometimes listed as Sarah Fedora) and Samuel David Zumwalt.
I am trying to trace Sarah - and find out whether or not she was perhaps adopted by Levi Zumwalt and Delila Langford. Family stories have long indicated that Sarah or Delila were Native American Indians. We have many family photos (beginning with Sarah) that show such a resemblance. If anyone could help me start tracking this.. I would greatly appreciate it.

Hello E Brophy,
I, too, am searching for the same info you are---on the marriages of Urijah Zumwalt to the Sublett sisters. I am a descendant of the Sublett family----my ggg grandfather, John Marion McNiel married Rebecca Griggs who was the daughter of Smith Griggs and Sarah Sublett. The info that I do have is a little different from yours. I have that Emily Sublett was first married to Urijah Zumwalt and that she died at the birth of her son William Martin Zumwalt. Then Urijah married Elizabeth Sublett. This is what I have on Emily-- born 7 Nov 1823, Bear Creek Twp., Montgomery Co., MO and died in 1849, Bear Creek, Montgomery Co., MO.
William Martin Zumwalt, their son, born 15 Dec 1849 in Montgomery Co., MO and died 24 Apr 1914 in Montgomery City, Hickory Co., MO.
Sarah Sublett was the daughter of Hill Sublett. She married Smith Griggs abt. 1831 in Clarke Co., KY.
I know this is different from what you have------so I would sure love to hear from you to see if we can clarify our findings. My e-mail is: jdpost28@cox.net I am really anxious to set our Emily and Elizabeth straightened out.

Hope to hear from you soon.
Dolores

My name is John Zumwalt, from St. Louis, and I am decended from Jacob Zumwalt. I am interested in any pictures of the Fort as well as any known early pictures or paintings of any Zumwalt's who were born in the 1700's and early 1800's who would lived when early Duragree fotographs were taken from 1839 on. I now live in Gulfport, Mississippi.
Thank you,
John Zumwalt
jz2562004@yahoo.com 228-547-3302 if you want any more information.

I have several names in the Zumwalt line. I have some photos that might be of interest. I haven't heard of a big RED ADAM, but I HAVE A BLACK Adam in my line. Black referring to his profession of black smith. If you wish you can e-mail me at zomer@citlink.net. My line goes back to 1642, so I have a lot of Johann's in it.

I am just starting on the Zumwalts but if you haven't seen it yet, in the "York County, Pennsylvania Church Records of the 18th Century" 3 Volumes (compiled by Marlene Strawser Bates and F. Edward Wright), there's 9 or 10 children listed with birth and baptism dates for Balthazar and Maria Clara (Linn) plus sponsors.

Gottfried born 4/12/1758
Gorg bapt 4/20/1760
Phillipus born 6/26/1762 bapt 7/25/1762
Frederick born 3/10/1768 bapt 5/1/1768
Elizabeth born 3/27/1772 bapt 5/20/1772
Johannes born 11/30/1773 bapt 4/3/1774
Johann Jacob born 2/3/1776 bapt 4/28/1776
Balthasar born 3/27/1754 bapt 4/7/1754
Jonas Rudisily born 12/18/1769 bapt 3/18/1770 son of Balthasar and Mary Elizabeth ??
John Henry born born 8/2/1770 bapt 9/23/1770

I believe I am related to Balthasar thru his Brother Johannes Andreas (Andrew)and Andrew's Son-in-law Joseph Ridenour.

I hope this helps.
