This is my first posting on this site, and I hope
my efforts will be successfull.
I am a researcher here in the UK, and am currently investigating
my own family tree, which includes the Family Name of MORDUE.
I have noticed requests from people researching MORDUES in Northumberland
and Durham, but have a real mystery on my hands with my GGGM.
MORDUE is not a common name in these areas, perhaps only 300
people are known from late 1600's to late 1800's in these areas.
I am desperately seeking any information on a Christian Mordue
(birth origins unknown, but circa 1795, derived from age on 1871, 1881 Census)
She married a Thomas How(e) in Christ Church Tynemouth, Northumberland, UK., on March 25 1820.
There are records of Mordues in Newcastle, Tynemouth and North Shields from earle 1700's.
They moved to KENTON, Northumberland, and had two known children Mary Ann (B: 1823) and
Hannah (B: 1822. Hannah later married Robert ILDERTON in Easington Co Durham in 1842, and have full
family details from that point.
Does anybody have family lines, one-name studies, etc. of MORDUES in that area, 1700-1900.
Especially Christian(a), their is a possibility of Scottish or Irish Connections.
Any information would be gratefully received, and anybody requiring information, on
MORDUES in this area of England, please contact me at firstname.lastname@example.org
and I will be happy to undertake that research for them,
Dr. Thomas E. Spence. D.Div., Msc. AMIAP.
