THIS MAY SOUND ALITTLE WEIRD BUT MY FAMILY AND I HAVE BEEN TRYING TO FIND THE ORIGINS OF OUR NAME. WE HAVE HAD NO HELP FROM MY FATHERS FAMILY. ALL I KNOW IS THAT MY FATHER WAS BORN IN SAINT LEWIS. I WONDER IF YOU COULD HELP WITH WHAT INFO YOU MIGHT HAVE. I'VE NEVER DONE THIS BEFORE AND I AM A LITTLE CONFUSED ON HOW TO GET STARTED. THANKS FOR ANY HELP.

Hi, just checking the message board hunting Evener and saw your response. What is your fathers name? I may be able to help you. I've been researching the Evener's for about seven years. Sorry it took so long for me to find your question.

I too have been searching for the Evener family history and have found nothing. My great-grandfather (John Evener) died when my grandfather (Frank Evener) was very young. John Evener was married to Sarah Gray, and it was believed that he was born in Jersey City, New Jersey while Sarah Gray was born in McComb, Illinois. That is all the information I have. Any help would be wonderful.

Thank you.

Hi Kristine, I wish I could make a connection with your Evener's. Most of the Evener's on my husbands line were around Athens and Franklin County, Ohio. A few did venture into other states but I have identified them. I wish I could help. Pam

Hi. My name is Jason Glenn Evener. My gradfathers name was Glenn Evener. I believe he grew up in the Athens Oh.area. I don't know to much about him, he died when my father was very young. My gradfather married Ruth Smith and they moved to Mt. Vernon OH. My father is an only child, but he has had four children, Jason, Kristina, Hollie and Leanna. I'm they only one who is married at this time and have no children as of yet. I'm in the Air Force and at the base I'm at now have run into a nother Evener. He has told me that some of his family are living in up state New York. I hope this can help you or if you need any more info. I would be glad to try and help.

Hi Jason, I knew your grandmother Ruth for about a year before she became sick. She was a very nice lady. She was a big help to me in my genealogy on Glennis's line. I do email with a girl in New York whose mother was an Evener. We haven't been able to make a connection but we are still hoping. The furthest back I have been able to go is my husband and your ancestors were born in New York and ended up in Athens county. I would appreciate it if you would keep me updated on additions to your family. Your grandfather's father and my husbands grandfather were brothers. Take care and great hearing from you. Pam

Thank you Jackie for the information. However, my great-grandfather, John Evener, was killed about 1920. Must be a different John Evener. Thanks anyway.

My great-grandfather John Evener was born in 1888 in Jersey City, NJ. He married Sarah Gray, who was born in Illinois. They had three children - Frank, Charles and George. John died about 1920 in Illinois. Sarah remarried twice after that to a Burke and then a Manion in Ohio. I have found no connections to the Eveners in Athens Ohio yet. I am desperately searching for John Evener's parents' names so that I can continue with my genealogy. I recently ordered John Evener's birth certificate from New Jersey. Hopefully they will find it and will send it to me then maybe I will be able to connect my family tree with yours or even farther back. But thank you for your assistance.
