As far as I can tell, Chief John Bowles was not in my ancestral line. My John was my 3x great grandfather, born in Virginia, 1777-1859, Louisa County. In 1995 I visited the house he built in 1800. It is still lived in.

He had 6 children, 5 were girls; the son was my 2x gr grandfather, Hardin T., b orn in 1813. For several years they changed the name of the town of Cismont, VA to Bowlesville in hi memory.

I'd like to find John's parents' names.
