FTM 2010 Version 18.104.22.168
Yesterday (3/24/11) until 2pm, I used Family Tree Maker 2010 and did not have this problem. I backed up the file. Compacted the file and then backed it up again.
When I opened the file later last night, I got the error message "Authentication with the Server Failed". I get this error repeatedly: When I open the file, whenever I try to do a websearch, etc. Nothing shows in the Web Dashboard. When I go to WebSearch and try to Log into Ancestry.com, it says "Log in Failed. Please try again." Using the Help menu and click on Online Help Center, I get the same error. It acts like I am not registered and do not have a ancestry.com subscription.
When I go to ancestry.com on internet, I can log in with no problem on FireFox. On Internet Explorer, it acts like it is not logging me in, says my password and user name don't match, but then when I click on Family Tree, it does show I am logged in.
I searched on KB and saw this message at the top of the screen:
"Family Tree Maker registration is currently experiencing issues. This affects Family Tree Maker 2008 through 2011 for the PC and the Mac version. Our developers are working on a resolution - you may either wait for us to resolve the issues, or perform a registration bypass."
I followed the steps to "Perform a Registration ByPass" but on step 10 where it said to change the number in the Value data box from 0 to 1, my number was already 1. So this didn't help.
I have submitted a "Question" about this online. But wondering if anybody else is having this problem.
Thought I would see lots of threads about this, but do not see much at all. Does anybody know how long the problem with "Family Tree Maker registration is currently experiencing issues" has been going on?
