Here is my line of Allely ancestors:
George Allely + Letitia Stewart had the following children: Steword b. abt 1805; George b. abt 1806; Mary b. abt 1809; Eleanor b. abt 1811; Ellen b. abt 1815; John b. abt 1817; William b. abt 1817; William Stewart b. abt 1820 all in Clones, Monaghan, Ireland. William Stewart Alley married on June 20, 1843 Ellen Allely (probably his cousin) b. June 20, 1818. They had Letitia b. June 20, 1846 and Eleanor Allely b. 1855. Letitia was also born in Clones, Monaghan, Ireland but the family (William Stewart and Ellen Allely) immigrated first to the US in 1848 and then to Ontario Canada in 1850. My ancestor is Eleanor Allely who married Frederick Holmes Green in 1880 in Ontario, Canada. They later moved to British Columbia, Canada.

My Allely's came from County Fermanagh, Ireland (Clones). There were two brothers in Ireland Joseph and Thomas. Thomas did not marry and Joseph had four sons; Joseph (my lineage), Thomas, George and James.
Joseph Jr.(b-circa 1800) settled near Rock Island, IL around 1848. He had eight children of which George William Allely (my line) was born 1840 in County Fermanagh, Ire.

There were Irish immigrants who came up the St. Lawrence from Europe and lived in Canada and parts of New York. Your George may have been one to do so. To time-line him, I would guess he was born around 1770's (close to Joseph Sr. Thomas) in Ireland, possibly another brother or cousin to Joseph and Thomas (?)
Our connections are close !

I may have some info for you. Altho some of it is from the Mormon's, some is also from the PRO in Belfast(a cousin) as well as letters, etc. I've rec'd from N. Zealand, believe it or not! Can't believe your a relative of Geo. Letitia - I've practically memorized their kids! I don't know how close my family is but they are among the earliest Allely's in Ireland. Hope to hear from you.

I'm not sure I "got" all of the info shown on this message board. My cousin (N.Ireland) and I have been working on the "tree" for 3 years. Altho I wouldn't stake my life on it, I believe that the George (m. Letitia Stewart/Steword) that Carole Hansen mentions in this website is very possibly the brother of Thomas (m. Eleanor Mills) who is very possibly the father of Joseph (m Elizabeth Shannon) who eventually settled in the U.S. I believe he had several brothers (2 James a/c one died in 1814, the other supposedly died young here in the U.S.) a Thomas(supposedly died single and was lost at sea) and a George (m. Frances McClean) who remained in Ireland. are you in possession of the 16 page document that M.S. Allely "wrote" concerning your branch? According to info I rec'd from people in N.Zealand, the family settled (about 1649) on Drumary Hill farm near Newbliss, Ireland w/family branching out to Race Course Farm near Killeevan.

I am the grandson of Catalina Allely born in Cádiz (Southern Spain)in 1914.She was grandaughter of José María Alley, born in Cádiz circa 1850. I always thought our Allely family name came from Italy, and have been quite surprised to see origins in Ireland and branches in North America and New Zealand. Does anyone know anything about this Allely branch coming to Spain?
