Edward G. Batenich
Edward G. Batenich, 86, of Clairton, died Tuesday, Nov. 4, 2008, at his home. He was born Sept. 29, 1922, in Clairton, son of the late George and Mary Saftko Batenich. He was retired from the Air National Guard of Moon Township. He was a member of St. Clare of Assisi Parish in Clairton. He was a corporal in the Army Air Corp, serving in the European and Middle Eastern theaters during World War II. He was a member of the Croatian Fraternal Union Lodge 248 of Clairton. He is survived by his wife, Irene (Kemetz) Batenich; daughters, Mary Lou (Terry) Bartman, of Elizabeth Township, and Gerry Kushner, of Liberty Borough; brother, Frank Batenich, of Chicago; six grandchildren, Cory, Tim and Terry Bartman and Ryan, Abby and Natalie Kushner; and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Diane Batenich. Visitation will be from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday in the A.J. BEKAVAC FUNERAL HOME, 555 5th Ave., Clairton. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Friday in St. Clare of Assisi Parish, Clairton. Burial will be in St. Clare Cemetery. www.bekavacfuneralhomeinc.com
