I am looking for a long ago friend. Her name was Helen Bialecki. We grew up in the North end of Toledo, OH. She lived with her grandmother since she was an infant. Her grandmothers name was Helen also. She has since passed away. Any information about her would be appreciated. I have not seen her in about 20 years.

I may be able to help you. My greatgrandmother was aBialecki in Toledo OH. My Aunt Helen lived in the North end...as did I for awhile. Helen was a Bialecki Kruger who married a Byrne. Her daughter (my cousin) was Helen Bialecki Kruger Byrne who married a Gregory. Nonetheless, if this isn't the Helen, it could be a cousin of Julia Bialecki... and the whole Bialecki family moved together to Toledo from Poland. My mother may be able tohelp if ou give more info. Lora, what part of Poland was your family from -- that is what town. I'm desperately trying to find something about my father-in-law. The spelling may have been changed. He was born in Markowa, Austria (now Poland). It's in southeast Poland close to the Russian border. Just curious as I'm not even sure of the spelling of my last name. Judie

I know in America they spelled their name Bialecki. I know Julia Bialecki and her husband lived in Gdansk, but the Bialeckis were from the border of Russia... I know they changed the spelling of their name, too.

My mother in law's maiden name was Wanda Bialecki. She was the daughter of Apolinary Bialecki and Sophia Wesowaski (?) and they lived in North Toledo. Apolinary had a brother Leo, I believe he lived in Swanton Ohio. I believe my mother in law had a sister by the name of Helen who died as a young child. Could this be the same family?

Absolutely. Leo Bialecki was my greatgrandmother Julia Bialecki's brother. Their father was Vincent Bialecki, and mother Josepha. I knew Leo lived west of Toledo (Swanton) and North Toledo was where my grandmother and her siblings and cousins grew up. My grandmother spoke often of a cousin Wanda. Where did she live? Any info you could share would be helpful. I have additional info as well.

The other brother and sisters to Leo and Julia were Steve, Frank, Helen, Stella and Aploinary. Apolinary married Sopia Wesolowski. These were the parents to Wanda. I have just started researching this side of my husbands family and would love to trade information. Please contact me at sabelkofer@accesstoledo.com

I do not know anymore of Sophia. I do not know if she had any siblings. What I do know is that she was born Feb 22,1888 or 1886. She died Oct 5, 1941 and is buried in Calvary Cemetary, here in Toledo. She married a Apolinary Bialecki. He was also known as Napolian, and Apollonius. Thier children were Harry, Helen, Wanda, George, Albert Joseph Chester and Donald. Napolin Bialecki had several siblings. Steve, Leo, Frank, Julia, Helen and Stella and an uncle by the name of Stanley that lived just west of here in Swanton, Ohio.
Does any of this match your Bialecki family?

Yes. Julia (my greatgrandmother) had brothers Leo (who lived in a "home", Frank, who lived in Swanton, and Steve, and a sister Helen. Their parents were Vincent Bialecki, and Josepha (spelling?) and they came from Austria (actually the Austrian partition of Poland. One of Helen's daughters was Josephine.I'll have more info when I'm home. I'm working out of town in Pinedale, but will go home tomorrow.
