I am also researching William Bingel from Hesse Cassel. He was born in 1820 or 21 and died on June 17, 1896 aged 75. He married Catherine Apple (b. 9/5/1825 d. 2/16/1907) in Germany and had a daughter Katherine Anna. When she was approximately 2 yrs old, they came to America. They had 6 more children - John, William, Herman, Elizabeth, Louis and Charles. William served in the American Civil War. Could we be researching the same person?

My Anna Bingel was born around 1750 in Singhoffen, Germany. She married Georg Eschenauer and they migrated to Crvenka, Batschka, Hungary when Hungary opened its borders to German settlers, offering them land grants. I believe Bingel to be of German origin.
