Hi Kim - or any other Blocksidge Families.

My name is Darci. My "maiden" sirname was Blocksidge. You must be having quite a time trying to find people with the Blocksidge name. I gave up my maiden name when I got married. Although - I have a brother!! He will (hopefully) carry on the name. My dad is still living as well...so there are some of us still out there. Good luck with your search. Are you trying to do family tree? Or are you just curious? I will check the message board from time to time.

I apologize for not writing back sooner. I had forgotten I had posted a message on this site.
My Blocksidge lineage begins with my mother. I have been researching for a long time but I only have information up to Benjamin Blocksidge of Shrewsbury, Shropshire, England. He was born about 1850. My Blocksidge kin reside mostly in Virginia and North Carolina.
I would love to hear if, perhaps, we may share some mutual family members!

My great great grandfather is supposed to have been born around 1850 in Shrewsbury, Shropshire, England. His name was Benjamin Blocksidge and it is believed that his father may have had ties to the Lichfield Cathedral and that Benjamin may have been schooled there. I believe Benjamin settled in America sometime around 1880 or so.
I certainly would love to hear from you as the Blocksidge name is very scarce in the States!

My family was originally from nearby Dawley, Shropshire and I have had email contact with your relatives in the UK. From the looks of your description of Benjamin, it looks like you have also likely found them. My branch of the family settled in the Boston area, where we still preside. I am descended from John(1797) and Sarah Blocksidge of Dawley Shropshire.
