I have just found a relative Ellen Boddy born in Shandrum Parish Co. Cork, she married William Ryan in 1838, do you have any connections to Ireland?

I too had relatives in Co Cork Ireland. A Patrick Bodie (ignore spellings - feel if it sounds right it probably is right) married Mary Doyle at Meelin Catholic Chapel in the Union of Kanturk, Co Cork July 30th 1864. Believe him to be the brother of my g.g.gfr who lived just a short distance away in Co Limerick in a place called Knocktoosh which is in the parish of Dromcollogher. My side of the family moved here to Middlesbrough, England circa 1878 and most of the family still live in this area. Have been unable to trace anymore family pre-1843/44.

Thanks for message. My family lived on the Cork/Limerick border. My g/g/g/gr.father married at Drumcolleher in 1867(John Boddy m Mary Sullivan) & his sister Johanna married the same year , she lived in Ashford. There was also another brother call Patrick who I believe lived in the Newmarket area. Have got no other info but if I can help in anyway, please let me know. bye for now Ray Boddy

I too have an ancestor called Patrick Boddy who married I believe Ellen possibly in Cork but they had two sons John and Patrick. John was traced back to Dromcolliher and he married a Mary Sullivan from Knocktoosh. I know nothing of Patrick at this stage. However John and Mary had nine children one of whom was Michael(My Grandfather) who married a Dinah O'Brien in Middlesbrough and they had six Children one of whom was Thomas,my Father.

I do have cousins living in Middlesbrough. According to some information I have my great grandfather, John Boddy, along with his wife Mary nee Sullivan moved to England somewhere between 1875 and 1878 but I am not sure how correct this is. I would be interested to know what other information you have but it certainly looks as if we could be related.

Seems we're definitly from the same stock! John and Mary were married at the Catholic Chapel of Dromcolleher in Co. Limerick 5 Mar 1867. Patrick-my ancestor-, Mary, Timothy, Johanna & Harry were born in and around Broadford near the above, John, Ellen, Joseph & Michael were born in M'bro. Mary Sullivan d. 1899 & John d. in M'bro workhouse in Feb 1901.Two branches of the family moved to Manchester circa 1914, and another went to Loughboro about 1928. Regards Ray.

I reckon Patrick was probably my great great Uncle so you are probably a cousin of mine but I haven,t worked out which one yet! Michael was my Grandfather and Thomas was my Father.Regarding the family who moved to Loughborough these were Ellen and George Pease who had 3 children Joseph, Catherine and Mary. The family who moved to Manchester were Johanna and Patrick Reed who had 2 daughers Winifred and Catherine. I cannot remember if I said but I am in Chelmsford,Essex. Is this of any help?
