I am looking for the geographical origins of the Bolzendahl family prior to 1750. At present I have them back to Mecklenburg, Germany

Hi Robert - I just discovered your post after Google suggested a different spelling of the Bolsendahl surname, which is my maiden name. I note comparable spellings on the Net as Bolzenthal, Boltzenthal (1768) and von Bolzenthal (fon-Bol'tsental'). I would certainly love the opportunity to hear from you and review your research in this regard.

I'm sorry it has taken this long to respond, but I only happened onto the message board while trying to do something else. I must have spelled my family name wrong the first time, because it is spelled as you see it above. I descend throught Wilhelm "William," Willy" Bolzendahl, who arrived in Milwaukee, Wisconsin in 1871 from Mecklenburg Germany.
Do you know how to set up a family association, or is there a Bolzendahl/Bolzenthal, etc. association already?

No, I'm not familiar at all with setting up a family association. My immediate family is in Detroit, Michigan and suburbs. Surname is Bolsendahl, with the first L silent. Is that similar to your pronounciation?

Yes, we also do not pronounce the first L, but as as far as I've researched it, it has always been spelled Bolzendahl. If you would like further info., please let me know.
Thanks,
Rob

Do you know when the or how the Bolzendahl family came to live in Germany? On my line I have gotten as far back as 1790 in Mecklenburg, Germany.
Thanks.

Sincerely,
