Hi Brent

My surname is Botes and I have traced it back to Wietse Botes which emigrated in the mid 1700 from Enkhuizen in Holland to South Africa. I could not trace any further, but it appears that his father was a Bote, therefor his son was Bote(s) (son of Bote).
I always thought that the Bote surname originates from Holland. Do you have any other information on it?
