Husband's family, information indicates he was born in England, but not confirmed. He married Helena Jahnke and was in Burlington, Racine Co. WI by the time daughter Evelyn was born in 1908 and probably remained there. Please email me if you can.

My name is Ashleigh Brenton. I am married to a "Fred Brenton". I am also recovering from a broken-neck-a result of domestic violence! I am not living with Fred Brenton, nor do I have contact with him. We are awaiting a trial date of Sept. 14, 1999. My question for you is, can you help me with some questions I might have regarding "Fred Brenton"? My husbands' name is, "CHARLES FREDRICK BRENTON JR.(He goes by FRED) We were married about three months when he tried to kill me.Thank you for your reply. Ashleigh Brenton

I have a detailed family tree of a Wiiliam Brenton who emigrated to Boston Mass. USA in abt 1632. I've often wondered as to the origins of the name. Can you help.

So far I have not found a definitive/reliable explanation.
The most plausible is that it is derived from a noble man who had lands on the Devon/Cornwall border. There is a still a small hamlet by the name of Brenton in Devon.
Another suggestion is that it is a corruption of Breton, with the Brentons origionally coming from France - I have not got any proof of this in any research that has come my way - YET!
By the way are you able to connect your William Brenton back beyond 1600 and Hammersmith, London?
|
Reply to Paul Young in the UK. I can't help you with the origin before Hammersmith near (now part of) London, but do you have a son of William Brenton, named John? This is the one I am seeking. Thanks for any help you can give.
