Hi~I'm looking for anyone with information on the Brethauer line. I believe a significant number lived in the Saratov region in Russia near the Volga and am glad to share what I have. Thanks very much. Roy

Please send me a note at, because I am collecting Brethauer (Bretthauer, Bredthauer, etc.) information. As far as I can tell, most of these families originally came from Steinhude, Schaumburg-Lippe, before they dispersed to the various countries of the world.

Hi Roy,
My Father and his parents all went to Ft.Collins,Co from Russia and they arrived to the US. As far as I can tell they came from Neu Nikolajewka, at list that is what we tried to read off of the manifist.
Grandma's Mother was Margret Schwabauer and her Father was Andrew.
Grandpa's Father was Johann Brethauer.
On the registration when they came over here the way they spelled there name was Bretthauer.
I don't think that we have any relations in Portland.

My father's name was Reio Bretthauer, and he had two siblings, George and Roy. Their father's name was Lewis and I believe had two brothers who came from Alsace/Lorraine with him. One was named Fred; don't know the other one's name. My father was born in a little town called White Rock (I believe SD)in 1889.

Hi Denise-We may very well be related. If you have any of your grandmother's parents names, that could help. My family is also from Russia near the volga.
