I am looking for info on the Brattlund family from Sweden. My great grandfather was John Brattlund who was born in Sweden and came to the USA with his parents and six siblings in 1871. He married Gustava Matilda Hendrickson, and they had 8 children---including my grandmother Emma Marie, who was born in Ironwood, Michigan in the late 1880's. John's father may have been named Anders Brattlund. At one point my family changed the spelling to "Brottlund" with an "o" instead of an "a." Any help on researching the Brattlund/Brottlund family would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Hello, Scott! Thank you for your reply to my query about the Brottlund family! Yours is the first one since I created the message board last June! I have had trouble finding things about this side of our family, so I was excited to hear from you! I used to correspond with Uncle Walter and Aunt Gertie Brottlund in Ironwood years ago, but since they're gone now, I didn't know where to go next. I guess we are second cousins or something like that since John and Mathilda Brottund are our common great-grandparents! Your grandfather Art and my grandma Emma were next to eachother in age. I just got in touch with someone from Great-Grandma Mathilda's Henry/Henrikson side of the family and this distant cousin sent me some new info. Anyway, do you know anything about John Brottund's parents Anders and "?" ? Anything you could give me would be so much appreciated, and I'd be willing to share the Henry/Hendrikson research with you. My e-mail address is myrobnoyes1@juno.com. Thanks again! Myrna

Although I married into the Brottlund family, I am trying to learn about my husband's ancestors. On this note, you might be interested to know that my husband is the grandson of Gert and Walter. Their son still lives in Iron Mountain, MI. Unfortunatley, Walter passed away in 1996 and Gert in 1998. If you have any questions of us, let me know and I will try to find the answer from Gale. Actually, we have access to many old pictures of the family. I found you by looking for information myself. I'd love to here from you! Ann

Surnames: Brattlund/Brottlund
Hello, Ann! It is always so exciting to connect with more of my family!! Great-uncle Walter and Great-aunt Gertie were such special people (I remember them coming out to Washington State where I live when I was a young teenager), and I still have all the letters they wrote to me in the late 70's and early 80's when I was just starting to research our family. I was newly married and had time then, but soon a couple children came along, and I didn't do much more on our history until two or three years ago! The internet has been such a wonderful tool! I have recently been directed to a website in Sweden where I found out some things about the Henriksson/Henry side of the family, and another woman in Sweden who found me on Ancestry gave me a little info on the Brattlunds (original spelling had an "a" instead of an "o") who came to this country from Sweden. I will be glad to share whatever I have with you, and I would love to see old family pictures and whatever info you have. My husband and I and possibly my parents plan to make a trip back East (We live near Seattle.) this fall. I want to go to Ironwood and Iron Mountain and would love to meet family that still lives in that area. Please feel free to contact me at my e-mail address: myrobnoyes1@juno.com. I'm looking forward to hearing from you again! Myrna

Hi,
My ancestors emigrated to the USA early 1900 from Jamtland in the north of Sweden. My grandfather´s given name was Jonas. He returned to Sweden again after a few years when his father couldn´t manage the farm. Jonas´ brothers and sisters stayed in the States in Minesota. We have had family reunions in Minesota and in Sweden. You could be unknown to our family. Drop me a line if you think we are related.

Hello! Thank you for taking the time to reply to my query on the Brattlund family! I know much more now than when I posted that message, and it does not seem that we are direct-line related anyway. My Brattlunds came from Varmland. My great-grandfather John Brattlund, and his father was Gustaf Brattlund. My ggg-grandfather was Anders Andersson Brattlund. Does any of that sound familiar at all?
