Hi,

Can you give me more information on your Cadman. My maiden name was Cadman. I have a book on the Cadman family that goes back to about 1400? I would be willing to look and see if there is anything about your Cadman if I knew more. My Cadman's came from Sheffield, Eng.

Waiting to hear from you.

Just wanted to let you know that Cadman family is also associated to Birmingham England. My side of the family settled initially in Canada followed by the USA.

My grandfather's mother was a Cadman. They are from Westmorland County, New Brunswick, CANADA. The earliest Cadman records I have is, John Cadman (1801-1862) who married Ann Robinson (1813-1891). The records state that John was Irish. One of their son's Thomas Cadman (1840-1911) married Abigail Goodwin (1837-1913). And one of Thomas and Abigail's daughter's Elizabeth Cadman (1878-1914) was my grandfather's mother, she married Fred Walton (1875-1950). As far as I know, they have always been in CANADA. Do any of you have any Cadman's from New Brunswick and in particular Westmorland County. There is an area called Cadman's Corner in Westmorland County and this is where my grandfather was born.

Kelly: I'll have to consult my archive ( my father) on this one. I'll get back to you on it. I do have an old friend in N.B who works for the Government regarding the Cadman Corners. I'd not heard of that place before. I've been trying to get a link with the Cadman Cottage in Australia. Apparently we had Cadman's sent there for some form of imprisonment or excile, whatever you want to call it. Are you in Canada?

Bruce,
Yes, I am in CANADA. I am originally from Fredericton but I am now living in Ottawa. I have been working on my mom's family for only about 6 months. A large number of the orignial settlers in the counites between New Brunswick and Nova Scotia came from York and are easier to trace. The rest, including the Cadman's are more difficult to trace because Irish records being what they are, hard to come by. Cadman's Corner is on the eastern coast of Westmorland County, NB just up the coast from Bayfield. You can see the bridge to the Island (PEI) from my aunt's home. I am going to try to do more digging and I'll let you know if I find anything.

Kelly: I know there some materials around, old book, notes, documents photos. I've not searched for a lot of this myself but will certainly try to get you info. The Irish connection is new to me. I've always been told that England is the base of the family name. Ny Aunt was able to trace back to the days of King Richard has a family crest that might be of interest. This is all assuming that the service she paid for was ethical of course. I'll see what I can find. Do you have a crest? Would you be interested in receiving a copy of it?
Ottawa - I know it well. My daughter went to Carleton and will be returning there this year. Nice town.
