I'm trying to locate family history regarding
my mother's family. Where did the Cairnes
family orignate from in Europe? My grandfather said his
ancestors once lived in Georgia. Anyone out
there with some info.? I would appreciate it a
lot.

Spelling is always a problem, so you may also want to check for "Cairns" with your family history. This tends to be Scottish, meaning rock, and is quite common. Many Scots relocated to North Carolina following "the '45" and the Battle of Cullodan, including the famous Flora McDonald.
Have you tried tracing your ancestors through the US census reports? If your first "Cairnes" arrived in the 1800s, this will list his place of birth. (My "Cairns" connection turned up Pittsburgh, Pa in 1880 census with Ireland listed as place of birth. Since religion was Presbyterian, she was probably Scot-Irish.)

His grandmother was Miriam Weise, who was the daughter of George Washington Weise and Sarah Orr, George was the son of John Weise and Sabre CAIRNES, they are buried in Oak Forest Cemetery in Henderson County, North Carolina. My maiden name is Cairnes....and although my parents say our ancestors came from Ireland - I have often seen it listed as a Scottish name. I often see the name spelled Cairns...but you spell it the same way we do. I don't know much about my Great Grandparents...except that they lived in Philadelphia in the early 1900's (they were Irish and evidently drank too much). My grandmother married Matthew Cairnes in Philadelphia in the late 1920's.

The name Cairnes is not the same line as Cairns. The name is also spelled Kairnes. I have been able to trace the family name back into Scotland in 1400. The spelling is correct and is different. Carnes is another name no family ties that we know of. The family comes from the north of Southern Ireland and left for Australia.
