My family is from Gizzeria (I was also born there, but came to the US when I was 14 months). I just recently vacationed in Gizzeria, and visited many relatives. If you don't already know, Gizzeria is a real small village and everyone knows everyone.

if you know your ancestors date of birth, I am sure that the town hall (municipio) would be able to help you with some family info. i e mother, father etc. I know that there is a
document called stato di famiglia that gives
the names of the parents and siblings.
Also there is a Tony Calabria and his brother Vince both born in Gizzeria. They both live in Toronto. Look up their number and call them.

Just looking through some old pictures that belonged to my
mother. I think this picture of a Laura Calabria resembles
my mother. It might have been taken in Buffalo, or LeRoy,
New York.

Surnames: Ianchello
My Grandmother was Giuseppinna Iachello, daughter of (Jim)--heaven's knows what the Italian name was--and Joanna Molinaro, both of Gizzaria. I know of many cousins Ianchello cousins here in the United States but the name was adulterated and if you don't know, you'd never think of looking for them and a brother, Giuseppi, who returned to Italy an became somewhat notorious as the "rich american"--if I've got the story right. (My dad went to visit him in the 80's.) So if you've looked down the Ianchello path in Gizzaria, it's likely we have a connection somewhere. Please contact me if you'd like to compare notes.

This sounds like they might have been my father's relatives. Ralph A. CALABRIA is my father. His mother's name was Celeste. I believe it was Celeste's mother who did not speak any English. I met them once many years ago in New Jersey.

My mother was Marcia Anne KEACH (Nov. 28, 1945 - March 22, 1988). She and my father, Ralph CALABRIA did not stay together very long. I was an only child. My mother moved with her parents Lola B. RAWSON KEACH and Rev. Stanley JORDAN KEACH to Massachusetts when I was very little.
