I am originally from Hinton, WV. My mother was Ruth Cales, daughter of Peter and Elizabeth Cales. I will check my records at home (I am at work now). I believe Ray Cales was my mom's cousin. You might try also the GenWeb for Summers County. There are several searching on the Cales ancestry. Do you know the name of the father? It might help me in looking through my records.

My grandmothers name is Stella Mae Cales/Bragg. Her parents were Luther Dennis Cales, born August 22, 1887 and Nannie Myrtle Johnson, born January 24, 1892. Nannies parents were Melville Johnson and Lucinda Bell Cales, born February 7, 1867. Lucindas parents were James Cales, born 1833 and Nancy Steel, born 1840. Luther's parents were Henry Alfred Cales, born May 22, 1865 and Adalaid McClung, born March 1864. Henry's parents were William Harvey Cales, born December 1842 and Mary Jane. Some of them were born in Virginia but for the most part, this entire family is from Summers County, or Hinton West Virginia. My grandmother still lives there to this day.

Hey Sonya,
This is Lorie (reggie's oldest daughter...harlow's grand daughter) How come you weren't at the reunion? I don't think we have ever met. I met Debbie Merrick for the first time there and, I was really hoping to see Angela there. We had such a good time at the reunion and, I was so glad that Aunt Stella stayed the whole time.
Lorie.

sorry....

Hey Lori,
My husband works at the Post Office and he had picked his vacation week back in January, so we had already planned to go to my sister Angela's for the week. I really wish that I could have been there and we will be there next year. Sorry I missed meeting everyone. I've been trying to help my mom with this Geneology stuff. I am trying to find out something about Pricie's family, it appears to be a dead end surrounding her mother and father. I traced the rest of her family back to the 1500's but that area surrounding her mom and dad, is blank. I've also been researching my husbands family, we don't even actually know his grandfathers last name, he was married to three women at the same time and used different last names, so thats a lot of fun! Talk to ya later....

Good Luck.

Hey Sonya,
Good luck to you and, your mom with the family history. I wish my papaw were still here, his brain was full of facts. When I was little we used to get out to all the old, old cemeteries looking for names and dates on headstones. In 11th grade I had to do a family tree for English class. All it took was a phone call to papaw and, the next thing I knew I had a great big envelope filled with everything I needed. Needless to say, I made an A.
Please tell Angela that I said hello and, give her my email address. I would love to hear from her after all these years. Take care.
Lorie Kim.
