I HAVE JUST STARTED TO TRY AND COMPILE SOME INFORMATION ABOUT MY FAMILY HISTORY. BOTH GRANDPARENTS ARE DECEASED AND NO ONE KNOWS TOO MUCH ABOUT THE CARBONNEAU NAME.
I REMEMBER MY GRANDFATHER (MY MOTHERS FATHER) (JOSEPH ALCID CARBONNEAU) TELLING ME HIS GRANDMOTHER OR MOTHER WAS A FULL BLOODED INDIAN THAT LIVED ON AN INDIAN RESERVATION IN CANADA. MY GRANDFATHER ALSO TOLD ME THAT HE WAS BORN IN CANADA IN 1910. HE PASSED AWAY 1980 IN BRIDGETON NEW JERSEY. I AM VERY EGAR TO TRACE MY HERITAGE SO I CAN PASS THIS ON TO MY CHILDREN. ANY INFORMATION WOULD BE WONDERFUL. THANKS TO ALL MICKI (BERTHA) KIMBLE

This is just a long shot but have you heard of a Malvaina(givin name) in you history. The surname is spelled different but I think this is a 3rd. great grandmother and I am told she was born in Montreal, Canada. I am sorry I do not have any other information but I thought I would send this to you.

Carbonneau's Indian connection...

Hello,

Myself and several other cousins/researchers of the Carbonneau line have recently encountered an Indian connection along with our Carbonneaus, particularly relating to the Menominee tribe. Our Carbonneaus are predominantly from France, then Quebec, and ultimately Wisconsin where the Menominee combination came in. Together, we all have considerable and extensive research on this line but are always looking for new connections and additional info that anyone can offer.

If you would like to e-mail me I can give you more information and I'd love to hear what you know of your own line; perhaps we have a connection?! My e-mail address is: FamilyTresearch@hotmail.com.

Hope to hear from you soon.

My name is Bob Traetz. My grandfather's name was Gordon Stephen Carbonneau he was born 7/2/1903 Oconto,Wisconson, married 8/24/27 to Alice louise Tinthrop in Racine, Wisconson. His parents were Geodeon Carbonneau, Mother Clara Payet(paya) from what my grandma told me, she said that Grandpa's mom was full blood indian. She wasn't sure from what tribe. Back then you didn't admit if there was an indian blood in the family. We would like to know if there is any relation to you. Grandma always told me if the spelling was the same that we were related. I would love to get any more info you have we have some, but it is very confusing to read and understand. If you need more from us we can let you know. We have some old records and are trying to connect it all.

My Carbonneau line is said to be mixed with the
Micmac indian tribe but I haven't found the connection
yet. My grandfather was Albert Carbonneau, his parents
born in Quebec.
Good luck
